Just so I'm clear. They go to the finals, even if they lose this match?

So, now I am really confused. Why was everyone so thrilled about the last win and talking about going to the finals?

The winner of this match has to play Gujarat Lions, the winner of that match goes to the finals. If we lose, its game over for the IPL.

So, now I am really confused. Why was everyone so thrilled about the last win and talking about going to the finals? The last game they won was the last "regularly scheduled" game that was set from the beginning of the tournament. Winning that game meant that they came out in the top 4 teams, all of which are now in what they call the "playoffs"... which determines which 2 of those top 4 teams will play in the Final on Sunday. So I think the reason for your confusion is the difference between the word "playoffs" and the word "finals". Maybe.

KKR started this game as slight favorites I reckon. Won the toss, which was perfect. Great start from Yusuf and some lovely bowling in the middle by Kuldeep. Then Narine made Yuvraj look like a school kid. Things going great, and then the death bowling woes struck again. We bowled too loose in the latter stages of the game, although it was great to see Yuvraj make some runs, he is a sight to see when on song. KKR lost Andre Russell at just the wrong time in the tournament. Overall, a decent performance to get to the playoffs. But we should have done much better than this. 2 years in a row now that KKR have started strong and just run out of steam midway through the tournament. Next year it is then. I hope Warner's young energetic bunch give Kohli's overflowing-with-riches side a night to forget, in their own backyard.
