Shah Rukh Khan: Lesser known facts
Feburary 17, 2018
Shah Rukh Khan turned down two film offers by Sanjay Leela Bhansali?
Shah Rukh Khan and Sanjay Leela Bhansali collaborated in the early 2000s for the remarkable film 'Devdas'. Well, those who are keen to see the two working together again will, unfortunately, have to wait for a longer time now.
According to reports, Shah Rukh apparently turned down two offers by Sanjay Leela Bhansali. Apparently, a year ago the superstar had said that he was in talks with SLB for two films, one being a period piece. Now, it has come to light that due to prior work commitments, King Khan might not be able to work with the filmmaker anytime soon. Interestingly, one of the roles he turned down was that of the fearsome Sultan Alauddin Khilji from 'Padmaavat', which later went to Ranveer Singh. However, in spite of all this, there is no bad blood between the two and they still remain good friends.

Well the article says one of the roles at least was one from Padmaavat which just came out this year, doing that role would have been great for SRK. This reminds me of when he turned down 3 Idiots or Rang de basanti, huge mistakes as well. Sometimes he makes really bizarre choices

Can we move on from these He rejected these two movies, and still managed to give big hits as well as meaningful movies during these times. During 3 Idiots period, he has RNBDJ and MNIK. During RDB (which he rejected for Madhavan's role, not Aamir's), he had DON and CDI. and I am glad he did not do Khilji's role. He already has a controversial life without having to defend himself for playing the role of a Mughal emperor (alleged tyrant). The saffron army would have had a field day bringing him down for that.

He didn't technically reject 3 idiots. As far as I know, he was on board to do it (and even gave inputs to the script) but backed out after a silly dispute with VVC.

Fair enough, I just think if he did the likes of 3 Idiots instead, he may have focused more on content driven movies. It would have done a lot for his reputation as well. He could have done MNIK (which while great was more divisve due to it's content) and 3 Idiots both. Even when SRK does content driven movies he only picks the divisive stuff lol. They don't matter much, as long as SRK would have delivered and we know he would have. And that movie was very well received & successful. Ranveer has even gotten awards for his role. Again instead of doing garbage like JHMS why not do an actually great movie with a fantastic director + better actress..I don't get it.

I’d actually say Imtiaz Ali is a much better director than SLB, any day. I cannot stand SLB movies, and that includes Devdas.

I’d actually say Imtiaz Ali is a much better director than SLB, any day. I cannot stand SLB movies, and that includes Devdas. To each their own. Devdas is among my favourite SRK movies, certainly a highlight of his career. There are other good SLB movies like Bajirao Mastani or Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam as well. I'm not saying Imtiaz is bad, I liked Jab we met and Love Aaj Kal a lot but he did an atrocious job with JHMS and managed to screw up a romance movie with the superstar people call "King of romance"..how the hell do you do that. While some haters always go overboard, I can't say the criticism wasn't justified. Unlike Fan or Raees which did deserve better, I don't think JHMS did
