I finally got hold of a book I'd been looking for for a while and at a good price: The Wedding Season by Su Dharmapala. It's a fast, fun read, advertised as a cross between Bridget Jones' Diary and A Suitable Boy...(more the former!) I thought it was about India, but was surprised to see it's about a group of Sri Lankan Girls, in AUSTRALIA of all places! and the efforts of the mother of one of them to get her married off. I'm quite enjoying it, specially as it's set in Australia (as far as I've read, anyway) Attachments:

Thank you Sandi! I already put it on my booklist . Looking forward to read it - if I ever manage to finish A Suitable Boy - this book has so many pages . Sandi - I said that before I have to say it again - your sig is amazing. He is so beautiful - yes beautiful - in all the pics - not only because he looks amazingly great but also because he spreads such a beautiful radiance/charisma.

I had top drop The Wedding Season 1/2 way thru as a very special book finally arrived... Weda Ayubi's Game Of Destiny. Has anyone else read it? It was very moving & at times, I found it so sad that I had to go back to The Wedding Season for a bit of light relief!

Weda is a very dear, gentle, special girl i know her personally (not in real life, i mean, but u know) and she is extremely sweet and i think u all know she has met Shahrukh on several ocassions and he's always been so loving towards her, she even gave him her book so i salute her for writing it and for being the strong person that she is. haven't read her book as of yet though

last night I finished re-reading Sister of My Heart by Chitra Baneerjee Divakaruni (wow, I typed that from memory! sometimes I amaze myself!) lol I love Indian literature - you learn so much about the culture etc. This was sad in places, towards the end I was SOBBING out loud... It's about 2 girls, who were born on the same day who consider themselves sisters of their hearts...living together with *the mothers* (3 of them!)in a crumbling mansion and dwindling finances and as they grow up, their romances and marriages... cant say any more without spoilers! but I highly recommend it. My copy of Weda's book arrived. I have to wait a bit. I can't bare something to sad at the moment - after I had to put my sweet cat Willow to sleep last Sunday I need something more cheerful for me and my other sweet cat Chiana .

I had to drop Bill Bryson's Down Under for a while - Val McDermid's latest arrived - Cross & Burn. 1/2 way thru it already! It starts off slowly, but before you know it, it's sneakily built into a major thriller, as only Ms McDermid can write! it's another long-awaited book in the Tony Hill series, but still leaves it wide open for further episodes in the series. just finished re-reading 2 of my own books: Love & Longing in Bombay by Vikram Chandra (Anupama Chopra's brother) Got sucked in by the *Bombay* in the title... idnt like it much
and also Madhu Jaffrey (celebrity cook) Climbing the Mango Trees...amazingly detailed family history, with some of her family recipes included (too labour-intensive for me though!)
