svetlana : When you have a long article with lots of non-SRK stuff in it, it's best to just delete all that stuff and leave SRK. If anybody is interested, they can go to the link.

Don't nitpick on Bollywood: Shah Rukh Khan defends Salman Khan, Madhuri Dixit's performance in Mulayam's ancestral villageBollywood actor Salman Khan performs at Saifai Mahotsav in Etawah district New Delhi: Actor Salman Khan, pilloried for performing at the Saifai Mahotsav in Uttar Pradesh where thousands of people in riot-hit Muzaffarnagar are struggling to survive, on Thursday said the event was an opportunity for him to help people. The actor, along with Madhuri Dixit and Deepika Padukone, was among over two dozen celebrities who performed at the Bollywood night in Saifai on Wednesday, which closed the fortnight-long event slammed for its lavish scale and poor timing. "In Etawah, Being Human, on behalf of all artists who performed yesterday, has committed to fund 200 paediatric heart surgeries in UP," Khan said, in a statement following a storm of criticism on social media. "Whenever I visit a place for a performance or a promotion, I see it as an opportunity to help the locals in the areas of healthcare or education," the 48-year-old added, detailing his organisation's work in various cities. Madhuri Dixit also took to Twitter to defend the performances. "As artists and celebrities, we believe in using our reach to help others through drawing attention to the needs of the day," she tweeted. While the actors were being slammed for what many called as insensitivity, actor Shah Rukh Khan backed his colleagues, saying "it was unfair to nitpick on Bollywood for everything."
"I have seen on news what's happening and I can understand the media's point of view but... We are performers and that's our job," said the actor, in a show of support.www.ndtv.com/article/india/don-t-nitpick-on-bollywood-shah-rukh-khan-defends-salman-khan-madhuri-dixit-s-performance-in-mulayam-469210

Ok i am so disappointed in SRK reaction here. I don't know much about the actual event, weather it was planned before and so on, neither am I involved in the riot. But I know that SRK himself did participate in concerts as fund raiser, and I can only imagine he might have handled the situation equally - As I said I'm saying this knowing not even half of what's going on. I would be more interested in how the victims see it. Did people enjoy it when this might be their only high point in a time of sadness. How many people got help because of the concert. These ad the questions I'm asking.

These ad the questions I'm asking. This was not a charity event!!! Stars received monetary compensations, state facilitation for their film release. Only 25 lakhs is being paid back after 20 crores was spent, money that was meant for relief camp dwellers and riot victims. From CNN-IBN On the other hand, for the Saifai festival, CNN IBN reports: "The Akhilesh government has spent a total of roughly Rs 20 crore in this event. Film stars are officially working pro bono, but unofficial estimates vary from Rs 5 to 10 crore. Seven chartered planes fetched stars from Mumbai and Delhi. Sitting arrangements were made for 25,000 people but over a lakh viewed the glitz. Over 2,000 police officers were deployed." In fact, a gleeful Mulayam has announced a Rs 1 crore subsidy for Dedh Ishqiya in the state and is also mulling a 25 percent IT waiver for it.

Of course, trust the media to ask SRK about everything, go ask salman or aamir. If he says Salman and co were wrong then they'll make a big issue out of that. Here's more of what SRK said:

SRK is right on this, maybe your views are biased, since this event came at a time when there are troubled times in that region (I don't know what is going, only know there were riots). The actors were in the event as their contractual obligations and were booked for the event way in advance, and cannot back out of an event just because there are troubling times in a region. If they started doing this then the actors will not be hired for such events in the future. Actors cannot nitpick and cancel their attendance due to troubling times in a region, they are just doing a job.

Vidya Balan: You want to be the woman Shahrukh Khan looks atGlamshamBy glamsham.com editorial | Glamsham – 4 hours ago By Urvi Parikh, Glamsham Editorial Bollywood's 'dirty' actress Vidya Balan along with her SHAADI KE SIDE EFFECTS co-star Farhan Akhtar appeared on the sixth episode of Karan Johar's 'Koffee with Karan', which will air this Sunday, and confessed about her adoration for the Badshah of Bollywood Shahrukh Khan. We got our hands on the teaser of their episode, where Karan Johar happened to ask Vidya and Farhan as to why is Shahrukh Khan the ultimate reference for lip-syncing a love song, especially for actors, to which Vidya replied, "I think he's worked beautifully and the songs.. ofcourse the songs were good but they have worked because of him. When he looks at a woman, you want to be that woman." Farhan too had a similar opinion and said, "There is a genuine believability in his eyes when he looks." Well, this is indeed true for our Bollywood King! in.omg.yahoo.com/news/vidya-balan-want-woman-shahrukh-khan-looks-113543475.html

to Karan, you know that isn't even the correct quote. Indian media have misquoted him on several articles. Below is the correct quote posted by NDTV. NDTV has also misquoted and they published this on youtube. www.youtube.com/watch?v=X4_dQ8RJgJ4

Salman and Shah Rukh Khan on the same show? – EXCLUSIVEThe movie-biz might turn upside down with that headline but it’s happening! If reliable sources are to be believed, Colors has managed to bring the warring Salman and Shah Rukh Khan together for a brand new show of theirs. The five-year-old general entertainment channel that specialises in reality and fiction shows with superstars has started work on Mission Sapnay, which is a part-fiction-part-reality show that has charity at its core. The show’s format allows a star to use his ‘face-value’ to earn a day’s income for someone or help someone on a cause of theirs. For instance, a star can sell wares, vegetables or even tea, or drive an auto or a taxi for a day across the city’s length and breadth, and help a person, who does that task every day to earn their bread and butter, with the money they earn in that day. Salman Khan and Shah Rukh Khan have both been approached by the channel and are known to be in talks for the show, which will dedicate one episode to every star. If they expect either Salman or SRK to do that, they must be crazy. Just imagine the security nightmare if they made it to the street so easily accessible

SRK's bodyguard runs into trouble Marathi actress files complaint against member of Shah Rukh Khan's security team; police detains him January 16, 2014 Mumbai Bharati Dubey Actor Shah Rukh Khan’s bodyguard Ravi was detained at Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC) police station for about two hours for having stopped a woman from entering the backstage area of an awards function held in the vicinity on Tuesday night. Senior police inspector Chandrakant Bhosale of BKC police station confirmed the news. “A Marathi actress named Sharvari lodged a complaint with us. It seems that the bodyguard didn’t allow her to enter the area even though she had an all-area access pass with her.” A source present at the event adds, “Ravi was escorting SRK to the venue and with a huge crowd swelling around the star, this actress was pushed away by Ravi. She then fell on the ground.” With the complaint being lodged, Ravi was summoned to the police station, after which he was let off with a warning. No FIR was lodged in the case. However, a source close to SRK says that it was Sharvari who had misbehaved with SRK's staff. “The cops didn’t find Ravi guilty of any improper conduct; he has been working for SRK for over six years now.” www.mid-day.com/entertainment/2014/jan/160114-marathi-actress-files-complaint-srks-bodyguard-runs-into-trouble.htm
