^ Yesterday was the perfect opportunity to send Yusuf at one down. He hasn't had much of a hit this IPL because the top order has done so well. So give him a run there, especially when the spinners were on. He could smashed Tewatia for 15 runs in an over and it would have been a completely different game from there. I don't think he has had any decent time in the middle, so I wouldn't be too harsh on him. With the exception, of course, of his fielding. His fielding and catching is possibly even worse than Narine's! And that is saying something. But Narine has more than adequately made up for all of that with both bat and ball. Yusuf has got to get better at least at catching if not ground fielding. Pandey has been the biggest disappointment over the last few games for me. So Woakes is going back home now. Boult back in the lineup. I really hope they give deGrandhomme a rest for the next game and play Shakib instead. On paper, KKR look to be the best team of the competition and no matter where they end up in the top 4, if they do make it, they will remain the team to beat there. But, overall, terrible performance against Punjab. Absolutely terrible.

They tried to do all they could to lose this one too. But Gambhir displayed enough calmness to take them through to a deserved second knockout. IT was the brilliant bowling performance up front that set it up. Someone throw Yusuf Pathan out of the side. He has been riding on just his name alone for waaaaaaaaay too long now. As brainless as Trump.

I don't understand why has to changed batting order when target was just 48 in 36 ball with 10 wickets in hand not 80-90 runs. Any way somehow escape.

I would say, thats a good strategy to keep opposition guess till the match starts. You may never know, Pathan at one down may be a master stroke against Mumbai
I have a strong feeling that KKR gonna win against overconfident Mumbai, that would be a sweet revenge

^ I hope you are right. Because I don't see them beating Mumbai. EVER. lol. Seriously. Mumbai just have the wood on us. I can't even remember the last time we beat them.

And they implode right on cue. If MI make it to the playoffs, no trophy for us. It is as simple as that. We just drop at the sight of Mumbai.

All out for 108. Absolutely shocking. That to in such a crucial match. It was embarrassing to watch us limp our way through the match, couldnt even make it to 20 overs.

^ Manish was injured, not dropped. And Yusuf deserved to be dropped. I wish they would just drop him completely from the squad, he is useless in the field to compound KKR's problems.

^wait seriously (about rps, gl etc), that seems really weird to me to just get rid of two new teams like that, and one even reached the final this year (may win)!! That's a terrible way to treat the fans.

@knight Oh damn that is crazy, well Pune fans are definitely in for a shock. I doubt most of the public knows about this.

^ Oh they do. The commentators never mentioned it on air. But cricinfo kept talking about Pune being out, almost every day.
I really hope they keep the teams to 8. It already runs way too long. The Aussie Big Bash has this concept completely nailed. IMO, it is the best T20 league out there. It will never get close the popularity of the IPL, but they have the concept done beautifully. That is exactly how long a tournament like this should be - long enough to put up some good cricket and short enough to leave viewers wanting more. Almost every year with the IPL, I start off watching all game and by the time the playoffs come, I am down to watching only KKR and sometimes not even them. Its just way too long.
I think KKR should retain their main core - Pandey, Gambhir, Narine, Lynn, Piyush, Kuldeep and Umesh. And given how well KKR perform at auctions, they will get their set of players. They absolutely need to retain their spin-trio. There will be plenty of cricket played at the Eden Gardens between now and the next IPL. So the pitch should start to take some turn next year, unlike this one. And they will need their spinners, all of whom are very good.
Edit: @knight All players in the pool? That is just crazy. They can't even retain 4? Every few years, just when teams start to take shape and start to assume a "look", they completely end up changing it up. I'm not a fan.

^ Oh right. There was a "match" card or something they were given so they could match the highest bid of one of their players..... Interesting. RCB's identity right now is all about their top order of ABD, Kohli and Gayle. That could change dramatically next season. I really hope KKR get Andre Russell back. We missed him badly this season.

I would love to see Andre Russell in kkr. If he would put in auction might sold record price. Kkr should get back Russell, gambhir, uthappa, Lynn and narine at any cost.
