1. Need someone to replace Andre Russell, since he has been banned. There is obviously no like-to-like replacement out there - Thisara Perera, Corey Anderson.... can't think of anyone else that has been let go that we could use in that position. 2. Morne Morkel - Need a like to like replacement, someone with pace. Chris Jordan can deliver yorkers well, Varun Aaron is a decent bet, Mitch Johnson maybe given how strong he looked in his comeback in the BBL, Dale Steyn. Plenty of options there. I'm surprised they let Morkel go, he has done decently well for us - as good as any seamer can. But he hasn't played international cricket in a while, injured I guess? That may explain it 3. Spinners - This is just my thing. Given that half the games are going to be played at the Eden Gardens, they need one more spinner in their lineup. Just keep tossing up between Kuldeep and the new pick for the third spinner's spot. M Ashwin has been let go, he would be an excellent pick, there is Imran Tahir, Praveen Tambe, Pawan Negi.... Again, plenty of options there as well. One more spinner is definitely needed here.
In other news, I am very very pleased they brought L Balaji back into the setup as the bowling coach. He worked very well with Gambhir and from all I have heard him speak, sounds like he has an excellent idea of bowling in T20's in Indian conditions.

^ They have retained Narine. I don't think Narine will be banned again. His action is a lot cleaner and he is not causing too many problems for Indian batsmen anyway lol. I think he will definitely play. A bowler that can hold his composure all the time is very vital and Narine has been doing a lot of work on his bowling. Hope Uthappa and Gambhir get going again. A big start is really important this season with Dre Russ out.

^ I reckon Shakib missing games was to basically give him a rest. He is a key player and you don't want him injured halfway into the competition. I agree Shakib, when not rested, should simply be one of the first names on the starting XI every game.

My opinion - KKR has been the trend-setter when it comes to auctions, over the last 4 seasons. This was another solid round. I like how they strengthened their fast-bowling line-up. As good as Morne Morkel was up front, he was still a liability in the end overs. Coulter-Nile should give Gambhir a little bit of respite, especially since Narine is not good anymore at bowling at the death. Boult is another good pick. Very unsure of Woakes - as good as he is in the one-day game, T20s in India are a different beast. Darren Bravo was a bit of a steal, really. The one pick that I don't agree with is Rishi Dhawan. He is just another fill-up-the-numbers player like Satheesh was last season, and that just does not cut it. I really hope Chris Lynn is fit through the season. With so much cricket to be played at the Gardens, Shakib, Piyush, Sunil and Kuldeep seems good enough to cover the vital spin department. Was also a little disappointed they didn't go for M Ashwin, but you don't want to pick players and bench them through the season - I hate how regularly Mumbai does that.

What an innings from Chris Lynn today. Just clean striking to every part of the ground. Lynn takes on the seamers and Gambhir taking on the spinners. Excellent move to open with Lynn. Reminds me of Lynn's brilliant hundred from the big bash earlier this year. If he remains fit throughout the IPL, watch out rest of the teams!

KKR choked so bad against MI

I hope Lynn's injury is not that serious else it will be a bigger loss for them than the match against MI. Third injury to the same shoulder. My guess is his IPL is over. Such a shame, though. He could have lit up the tournament having obviously been given the license to go free his arms. With Russell also missing, KKR is missing some hitting power. Need someone like de Grandhomme to come good now. I would play him over Boult in the next game and also bring in Shakib in place of Lynn. Such a shame.

^ Feel you're being too harsh on the bowlers. These guys couldn't catch a cold in flu season. If we had held on to all our catches, like we should have, we would be unbeaten so far and the bowling would have looked pretty good.
Narine came off today but he is going to get a lot of short stuff on his body from now on. It has happened to Raina too and he has come back from that. But Narine is a bowler that doesn't spend as much time working on his batting. He will need to now. The faster pace from the likes of Malinga and others could trouble him.
Overall terrific match. KKR completely outplayed KingsXI in every department save catching.

This is mainly because of the loss of wicket taking ability of Sunil Narine who used to be the biggest threat for any opposition by picking a lot of wickets. It was like opposition had only 16 overs against KKR to score. That allowed a cushion for rest of the bowlers and the team. The Narine threat seems to be coming back! Took a while but it is surely there. Terrific performances from him in the last couple of games. KKR tops the table. And with CSK out of the picture, KKR have cemented themselves as THE consistently good team in the IPL. Excellent win this. And I absolutely love the opening combinations they have going now. Lynn, then Narine, now de Grandhomme. It didn't come off today but was an excellent move. Gotta give him another shot, then come back with Narine, then switch it up again with maybe someone like Yusuf. Just keep teams guessing.

^ Oh that is great news! Surprising, but great. He has been in seriously good hitting form this year and I was hoping we would take full advantage. And opening the batting with him seemed like a great move. Hope he doesn't sit out more than 2 more games.

Lynn who? Narine is out there whacking everything better than Lynn or anyone else ever could. He is just having fun swinging that bat. And it is so much fun to watch too as a KKR fan.

Pathetic performance from RCB batsmen. This is what happens when you go completely top-heavy and rely solely on Gayle, Kohli and ABD. Nevertheless, inspired performance from KKR bowlers. Shows once again how smartly KKR handled the auction. They knew the track at Eden was going to be relaid and would probably help the pacemen and the picks of Coulter-Nile, Woakes and Boult especially seem like masterstrokes in hindsight. Best win of the season yet. From this point, I'd expect KKR to finish atop the points table by the time the playoffs come around.

KKR sitting pretty at the top of the table with 7 wins from 9 games. Two commanding run chases in the last two games.

Uh oh. Spoke too soon. They follow it up with their worst performance of the season. After the start given to them, some appalling batting from Pandey, Gambhir and Uthappa. Absolutely terrible batting. Shoddy performance. We are up against Mumbai next, who have the wood on us. Just went from coasting to the top 2 to struggling to get into the playoffs now. Worst display of the season for me, especially given the opposition.

They have to throw useless Pathan, because of Gambhir kkr lost today .He faced 18 balls scored only 8 runs.Next match against Mumbai will be very tough one and a must win game if they want to finish top 2.
