Mission Mangal Is A Huge Winner Friday 16 August 2019 15.00 IST Box Office India Trade Network Mission Mangal is a huge winner at the box office as collections hold up very strongly on its second day. The second day is a normal working holiday and a 50% drop is a healthy trend but this film is looking at a 40% drop only if we go by the mornings collections against the morning collections of yesterday. It could even be the drop is less in the evening collections. After putting up a 28 crore nett plus day even if the film had dropped 55-60% it would have been a good result but it is sure to do better than that. The film should be able to collect 15 crore nett mark though it will be evening collections which will give a more accurate estimate. The film has done outstanding business in Mumbai, Mysore and West Bengal where it is out performing and is heading to to be a SUPERHIT / BLOCKBUSTER film. The film was a quickie made in no time and shot for around 30 days and at a production cost of just 32 crore (without Akshay Kumar and P&A) which is looking to be covered in its 3 day all India share and the way the film is trending it will not be stopping after the first 3 or 4 days as the film has worked with its target audience. It may not be across the board as mass centres are less but the holiday has got it some numbers in these places where it may not have done otherwise and now the multiplexes in the big cities will take it to huge success. boxofficeindia.com/report-details.php?articleid=5316

Mission Mangal Movie Review Review by Bollywood Hungama News Network 14 August 2019 22:29 pm IST Mission Mangal Movie Rating 4.5/5 Just like how Eid is synonymous with a Salman Khan release, the Independence Day holiday isn’t complete without an Akshay Kumar starrer. From 2013 to 2018, he has had a release during this beneficial weekend, barring 2014. 2019 is no exception and this time, he is out with MISSION MANGAL, based on an important chapter of India’s history. The mood of the film is also apt, considering that just last month, the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) launched Chandrayaan-2 towards the moon. MISSION MANGAL has all the trappings of a blockbuster. So does it turn out to be as exciting and entertaining as expected? Or does the content fails to entice? Let’s analyse. MISSION MANGAL is the incredible true story behind India’s mission to Mars. The film begins in 2010. At the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO), a space mission under Rakesh Dhawan (Akshay Kumar) fails after Tara Shinde (Vidya Balan) in his team makes an error in judgement. As a punishment posting, he’s asked to handle India’s Mars program, which is not expected to take off anytime soon. A few days later, Tara while cooking puris in her home has a Eureka moment. She realises that through innovative methods, they can try to get our satellite reach Mars in just two years. She tells Rakesh about the plan and he realises it’s a golden opportunity. Rakesh approaches his senior (Vikram Gokhale) for approval who finds the idea unfeasible. Also Rupert Desai (Dalip Tahil) who has come from NASA to join ISRO feels that Rakesh's idea is ridiculous. Rakesh however manages to persuade and begins work. He asks for the best of the men from ISRO for this project. However he’s given inexperienced colleagues like Kritika Aggarwal (Taapsee Pannu), Eka Gandhi (Sonakshi Sinha), Varsha Gowda (Nithya Menen), Neha Siddiqui (Kirti Kulhari) and Parmeshwar Naidu (Sharman Joshi) and a very senior employee Ananth Iyer (H G Dattatreya). What happens next forms the rest of the film. Jagan Shakti's story is superb and also very challenging. It’s not easy to pen down a mainstream film with such a plot. Also many are not aware of what transpired behind the making of India’s Mars mission. Hence it’ll be exciting for them to witness the whole journey. Also there are so many twists and turns in the plot that one might not believe that some of the plot points are actually true incidents. R Balki, Jagan Shakti, Nidhi Singh Dharma and Saketh Kondipathi's screenplay not only simplifies the proceedings but also make it massy. The screenplay blends science and entertainment seamlessly. The film’s goings on are extremely easy to comprehend. R Balki, Jagan Shakti, Nidhi Singh Dharma and Saketh Kondipathi's dialogues are effective and funny. Jagan Shakti's direction is terrific for a first timer. He had a winning screenplay in his hand and he takes it to another level with his execution. The film has also has subplots of each of the main characters and even these are very well woven in the narrative. And through these tracks too, the makers have made some important comments about religion, parenting, marriage, religious bias etc. and all these contribute to the film hugely. MISSION MANGAL starts off beautifully showing Tara running a house efficiently on the day ISRO has an important launch. Rakesh's entry and the confrontation scene when he’s offered Mars program is intriguing as well as entertaining. It also makes it clear that the film won’t get serious and that the entertainment quotient will be maintained. The rest of the team is introduced in a quick but interesting montage like sequences and it adds a lot to the film. The first half moves swiftly with no complaints. The second half is longer and the commencing portions are where the film drops. Also to see the team renovating their work station at a time when they are running against time is a bit too much. Thankfully the film soon picks up. The best is obviously reserved for the finale. There are a lot of obstacles faced by the team here and it makes the film even more gripping. The finale is applause worthy. MISSION MANGAL is embellished with some fine performances. Akshay Kumar is in top form. He gets to play such a splendid role and gets into the skin of his character. And he’s very much there throughout the film! The way his character rarely gets serious and makes even serious discussions light and funny is seen to be believed. One of the greatest sequences of the film is when he makes an imaginary call to none other than APJ Abdul Kalam. Vidya Balan dominates most of the first half and suits her character to the T. It’s also admirable that she has no qualms playing mother to teenagers. Sonakshi Sinha is lovely and gets to shine. It’s great to see how she makes an impact in a supporting role. Taapsee Pannu is also quite efficient and gives her best in the climax. Nithya Menen has a smaller role but it serves as a great debut. Kirti Kulhari manages to score and many would be able to relate to her character's struggles. Sharman Joshi is funny and would surely make viewers smile. H G Dattatreya is adorable and the scene where he teaches Kirti's ex hubby a lesson is too good! Dalip Tahil is appropriate as the pessimist. Sanjay Kapoor (Sunil Shinde) is the surprise of the film. He delivers a fine performance and post interval he goes in another mode that would be greeted with whistles in cinemas! Purab Kohli (Vivek) and Mohd. Zeeshan Ayyub (Rishi) lend able support. Rohan Joshi (Dilip Shinde) is hilarious and even heartening as Vidya Balan's son. Kashmira Pardeshi (Anya Shinde) gets no scope. Vikram Gokhale is decent. Others are also good in their respective parts. Amit Trivedi's music is well interspersed with the proceedings. 'Dil Mein Mars Hai' is entertaining and catchy. 'Shaabaashiyaan' is played at a crucial juncture. Amit Trivedi's background score is engaging. S Ravi Varman's cinematography is quite simple and has the big screen effect. Sandeep Ravade's production design is praiseworthy as it’s straight out of life. Debashish Mishra's sound design is also as real as it gets. Sham Kaushal's action is good in the lone action scene inside the metro. Famulus Media and Entertainment's VFX is top class without which the long climax would not have worked so well. Theia Tekchandaney's costumes are appealing yet not too glamorous. Kirti Kolwankar and Maria Tharakan's costumes for Vidya Balan are authentic. Chandan Arora's editing is just perfect as the film neither moves too fast nor drags. On the whole, MISSION MANGAL is engaging and entertaining while being patriotic in its feel. At the box office, it will be accepted whole heartedly by the audiences and has the potential to emerge as Akshay Kumar's highest grosser ever! www.bollywoodhungama.com/movie/mission-mangal/critic-review/

Mission Mangal Is Strong On Day Two Saturday 17 August 2019 11.30 IST Box Office India Trade Network Mission Mangal had a fantastic second day as it collected 16.75-17 crore nett apprx to take its two day total to 45 crore nett plus. There is a drop of 40% but this is excellent coming of the big holiday and the second day is actually a bigger achievement than the first day. The film is doing big numbers in Mumbai, Mysore and West Bengal. The figures in Mysore and West Bengal in just the first four days will be among the top Akshay Kumar films and Mission Mangal could be number in both circuits by the end of the week. The two day collections in Mumbai is 16 crore nett while Delhi / UP is around 9.50 crore nett. The performance in Delhi NCR is very good but in UP its mainly performed in the multiplexes. Still NCR will take the film to a very good number in Delhi / UP. The film should see solid upward momentum over the weekend especially on Saturday as the metros should show good jumps. The numbers is two days ensure a HIT film and time will tell if its a SUPER HIT or BLOCKBUSTER film. The two day figures of Mission Mangal are as follows. Thursday - 28,50,00,000 apprx Friday - 17,00,00,000 apprx TOTAL - 45,50,00,000 apprx If we compare with Gold last year then the second day number is more than double of that film though the second day of Gold fell on Thursday while its Friday here but even allowing for that there is a huge difference between the two films. Gold was a moderate success due to the holiday period while this film has found acceptance with the big city audience. The two day numbers of Mission Mangal are a huge 14 crore nett ahead of Gold. boxofficeindia.com/report-details.php?articleid=5319

Mission Mangal Is Excellent On Saturday Saturday 17 August 2019 23.00 IST Box Office India Trade Network Mission Mangal was excellent on Saturday with collections in the 23.50 crore nett range. It was fantastic growth in practically all multiplexes. The Saturday number gives the film a chance to reach its first day number which would be an huge achievement. It will be difficult but there is a chance and it will probably be the first time that a big film released on a national holiday has gone and beaten or even challenged its national holiday opening day collections. The collections of the film are now around 69 crore nett in three days. The film always looked likely to cross 90 crore nett after the first two days but now its going to cross the 95 crore nett mark. If final Saturday figures can hit 25 crore nett then even a 100 crore nett four day total will be on. But Hindi circuits will have to match the growth of Mumbai, Delhi NCR, Punjab and Mysore to hit that number which is unlikely. Batla House is also doing pretty good business with collections of 9.50 crore nett on Saturday. the film has gone up by around 30% which is a good result for the film. The film is not competition to Mission Mangal but looked at as a separate entity the film has done well over the first three days. It has collected over 31.50 crore nett in three days and these is Sunday to come so it will be a healthy weekend and then the acid test over the weekdays which will determine the outcome of the film. boxofficeindia.com/report-details.php?articleid=5321

I am not a fan of Akshay Kumar but kudos to him for making this movie. Story of one of India's greatest triumph was worth telling. It needed to be told & how beautifully has Akshay kumar told it!! He is getting rewarded for taking risks. How much I wish SRK had done the SJSA & not walked out of it. The crown of bollywood's first space based saga could've been his. It's time that SRK sheds his inhibitions & gets back into game. Everyone is trying different things. Even a wooden actor like John Abraham is doing something like Batla House. Hrithik has done Super 30. Time the king of Bollywood picks up the mantle & shows the way.
P.S. Mods, please don't delete this post. Had few of my posts deleted in the past where I was critical of SRK.

Mission Mangal Sets Record For Akshay Kumar Starrers Sunday 18 August 2019 15.00 IST Box Office India Trade Network Mission Mangal has set a weekend record for an Akshay Kumar starrer and by a healthy margin of around 12.50%. It beat the figures of 2.0 (Hindi) which collected 61.29 crore nett but it was a non holiday release and the Hindi versions did not have much of a release in the South. But on the other hand that film was not actually an outright Hindi film and Mission Mangal has comfortably beaten the numbers of all previous Akshay Kumar starrers for the first three days by big margins. Kesari released earlier this year and Housefull 3 were the best at 54 crore and 53 crore respectively. Mission Mangal is not an initial type of film so the big first day has helped it put up these big numbers but despite the huge first day it is the Friday and Saturday numbers that are more impressive as they not coming on a holiday. The Saturday number is just little less than the big Eid release Bharat which did around 24.25 crore nett on its Saturday though it was the fourth day for that film. The top ten Akshay Kumar opening weekends are as follows. (First three days only) 1. Mission Mangal - 69,00,00,000 apprx 2. 2.0 (Hindi) - 61,29,00,000 3. Kesari - 54,35,00,000 4. Housefull 3 - 53,27,00,000 5. Rustom - 49,53,00,000 6. Toilet Ek Prem Katha - 49,09,00,000 7. Jolly LLB 2 - 47,59,00,000 8.Brothers - 47,42,00,000 9. Rowdy Rathore - 46,04,00,000 10. Singh Is Bling - 44,23,00,000 boxofficeindia.com/report-details.php?articleid=5324

I don't remember when I saw him as host in award show. Now day I don't even trust his word..few years back he promised he will do 3 movies every years. If he can't do then he shouldn't made it public. After 2 back to failure he now afraid to sign any movie. At least salman akshay ajay are courageous people despite lot of failure still they keep trying and didn't run away from failure. Both akshay salman used to considered wooden actor 2 decades back, now see how they improveef themselves over the year. Most important thing is they are doing multiple movie in a year still they are satisfying both critics as well as their fans. In srk's case neither happy. People are anxiously waiting for his next movie announcement but I won't be surprised end of the day he will come up with movie like jhms or Dilwale kind of movie which will not have interest among general audience and he will spend lot of money and time for it.

Mission Mangal Heading For Biggest Sunday Of Year Monday 19 August 2019 00.15 IST Box Office India Trade Network Mission Mangal may well have the highest Sunday of the year as it head for collections in the 27-27.50 crore nett range. The collections in the bigger circuits like Mumbai and Delhi / UP are the highest of the year but it will depend where the mass circuits come and if they are lower then can South compensate. Kabir Singh had collected 27.25 crore nett on its first Sunday which is the best Sunday of 2019 for a Hindi film. If it does turn out to be the highest Sunday of 2019 then it will be after an extended weekend while Kabir Singh was a normal weeeknd. The extended four day weekend total of the film is a huge 96 crore nett plus and now its about how strong that Monday will hold. The film has built momentum over the weekend and has appreciation so Monday will hold but its always difficult to tell at what levels. Balta House also recorded good numbers of 11.5-12 crore nett on Sunday and the film has an extended four day weekend of 43 crore nett plus. This film has also gained momentum over the weekend though not at the levels of Mission Mangal. As this film did not open to the levels it should have on a national holiday it will be about the the weekday collections and there is a chance of holding though the Maharashtra / Gujarat could be an issue on the weekdays. boxofficeindia.com/report-details.php?articleid=5325

Mission Mangal Records Excellent Extended Weekend Monday 19 August 2019 11.30 IST Box Office India Trade Network Mission Mangal has recorded excellent extended weekend collections of 96.50 crore nett. Its a huge number for the film as such a number could not be expected for this type of film before release. the first day holiday was there but it is what it has done after the holiday which is the standout. The Sunday numbers are almost coming back to that national holiday first day level. At some places the collections are higher than day one. The film has crossed the business of films like De De Pyaar De, Manikarnika - Queen Of Jhansi and Luka Chuppi is just four days and these were successful films to a varying degree. The weekend is at such a level that even if the film was to drop hugely on Monday it is still a HIT film. But going the fantastic weekend trend the film should hold and its about how well it can hold. Mumbai is done fantastic business while West Bengal and Mysore will notch record numbers for Akshay Kumar starrers by the end of the week. Delhi / Up and East Punjab have been rock solid on Saturday and Sunday and should hold over time and catch up with business in Mumbai circuit. The first three day business of Mission Mangal is as follows. Thursday - 28,50,00,000 apprx Friday - 17,00,00,000 apprx Saturday - 23,50,00,000 apprx Sunday - 27,50,00,000 apprx TOTAL - 96.50,00,000 apprx Last year Gold had grossed 67 crore nett over its five day extended weekend and this film has done almost 50% more business in five days. It will cross the lifetime numbers of Gold in just five days. boxofficeindia.com/report-details.php?articleid=5327

Mission Mangal Has Highest Sunday Of 2019 Monday 19 August 2019 15.00 IST Box Office India Trade Network Mission Mangal recorded the highest Sunday of the year and its pretty insane that a film of this genre has the highest Sunday of the year and we are in the 8th month. The number has come even though mass centres have not really performed but the top 12-15 cities in the country are extraordinary. The numbers are similar to Kabir Singh and the difference is the far better collections in Mumbai, Pune, Delhi and Bangalore and Kolkata while most other cities in the country are less than Kabir Singh. Obviously the under performance of Bharat has meant Mission Mangal and Kabir Singh have top Sundays because if Bharat really worked it would have been far ahead. Batla House was just outside the top ten Sundays as it picked up 12 core nett which is the 12th highest Sunday this year. Six films have topped the 20 crore nett mark but the the 30 crore nett is yet to be to reached. The top Sunday collections of 2019 are as follows 1. Mission Mangal - 27,50,00,000 apprx 2. Kabir Singh - 27,26,00,000 3. Bharat - 25,54,00,000 4. Total Dhamaal - 25,21,00,000 5. Kesari - 20,92,00,000 6. Gully Boy - 20,58,00,000 7. Uri - The Surgical Strike - 15,26,00,000 8. Manikarnika: Queen Of Jhansi - 14,66,00,000 9. De De Pyaar De - 13,97,00,000 10 Luka Chuppi - 13,88,00,000 11. Student Of The Year 2 - 12,15,00,000 12. Batla House - 12,00,00,000 apprx boxofficeindia.com/report-details.php?articleid=5328

Mission Mangal Is A Huge HIT Tuesday 20 August 2019 11.15 IST Box Office India Trade Network Mission Mangal is a huge HIT as it recorded collections of 8.50-8.75 crore nett on Monday. There is a drop of 50% plus from the Friday and the major multiplexes have fallen even more but there has been a huge drop in ticket prices at these multiplexes as they were at blockbuster levels for the first five days. The film is among the top three HITS of the year with Kabir Singh and Uri - The Surgical Strike. The drop is more in the big multiplexes due this reduction in ticket prices but the overall number is still very good for a Monday and there is an open weekend to come where the film should dominate again. The total collections of the film are 105 crore nett in five days and the extended week should be around 125 crore nett. The film is sure to cruise past the figures of Kesari in no time. A 10 crore nett Monday would probably have even given the film a shot at 200 crore nett but that would have been a crazy number for this type of film which has limited commercial elements and an audience mainly in the big cities. The film will be best in Mumbai, West Bengal and Mysore and all three are sure to set new highs for Akshay Kumar starrers. The first five day business of Mission Mangal is as follows. Thursday - 28,50,00,000 apprx Friday - 17,00,00,000 apprx Saturday - 23,50,00,000 apprx Sunday - 27,50,00,000 apprx Monday - 8,50,00,000 apprx TOTAL - 1,05,00,00,000 apprx The film has surpassed the numbers of Gold which did around 102 crore nett in just five days. boxofficeindia.com/report-details.php?articleid=5331

Mission Mangal Continues Strong Run Wednesday 21 August 2019 11.30 IST Box Office India Trade Network Mission Mangal continued its strong run on Tuesday as it collected 7.50 crore nett to take its six day total to 112.50 crore nett. The collections dropped at multiplexes on Monday due to the huge drop in ticket rates which were at holiday blockbuster rates for five days but on Tuesday these big multiplexes were steady with minimal drop of 5-7%. There was a drop in mass markets on Tuesday but still the numbers from likes of CPCI Rajasthan and Bihar are pretty good for a film which does not really have the mass elements. These places will feel the heat eventually but as its got the initial numbers so the final totals in all these markets will be good. The first week is heading for a little over 125 crore nett and then it will be the second Friday drop which will tell where the film is going and the multiplexes especially in the bigger cities should hold hold well and do very good business over the weekend. The film has the potential to get a huge 175 crore nett plus total on the board but it depend on the second week. The colelctions of Mission Magal till date are as follows. Thursday - 28,50,00,000 apprx Friday - 17,00,00,000 apprx Saturday - 23,50,00,000 apprx Sunday - 27,50,00,000 apprx Monday - 8,50,00,000 apprx Tuesday - 7,50,00,000 apprx TOTAL - 1,12,50,00,000 apprx boxofficeindia.com/report-details.php?articleid=5334

Mission Mangal Has Excellent Extended First Week Friday 23 August 2019 11.30 IST Box Office India Trade Network Mission Mangal had an excellent excellent extended first week of 125 crore nett. The film is among the top three HITS of the year along with Kabir Singh and Uri - The Surgical Strike and will also probably be the the biggest Akshay Kumar hit in the last five years or so. The film has done very strong business in Mumbai, Mysore and West Bengal. In West Bengal it has done what 2.0 (Hindi) did in its lifetime and that is the biggest Akshay Kumar grosser in West Bengal till date. In Mysore it is a crore or so short of the Airlift total which is the biggest Akshay Kumar film in Mysore. Both circuits will set new highs for Akshay Kumar grossers over the weekend. The film could have held stronger over the weekdays considering its weekend trend but there was more than normal drop of ticket rates on Monday and then Hindi circuits were going to find it difficult to hold the levels of business the film is doing. The film has still managed to finish Thursday with a 6 crore nett number which is very good and now it is about the hold on the second Friday. The collections of Mission Mangal till date are as follows. Thursday - 28,50,00,000 apprx Friday - 17,00,00,000 apprx Saturday - 23,50,00,000 apprx Sunday - 27,50,00,000 apprx Monday - 8,50,00,000 apprx Tuesday - 7,50,00,000 apprx Wednesday - 6,50,00,000 apprx Thursday - 6,00,00,000 apprx TOTAL - 1,25,00,00,000 apprx boxofficeindia.com/report-details.php?articleid=5342

Mission Mangal Box Office Collections – Blockbuster Mission Mangal enters Rs. 200 Crore Club, is huge for Akshay Kumar and Fox Star Studios By Joginder Tuteja, Sep 13, 2019 - 7:40 pm IST Akshay Kumar can now pop the champagne. He has scored his first double century with Mission Mangal. In its fourth week, the film managed to bring in Rs. 7.02 crores and that has pushed its overall score to Rs. 200.16 crores. From here, the film would score Rs. 3-4 crores more with an outside chance of hitting the Rs. 205 crores. Of late, Akshay Kumar has been scoring big centuries with 2.0 (Hindi), Kesari and now Mission Mangal going past the Rs. 150 crores mark. This is now also his 10th straight success in a row starting with Airlift with each of these scoring a century, except for PadMan which ironically fetched a national award for itself. His next outing is Housefull 4 and the Diwali release could well turn out to be yet another double century for the versatile superstar who has been playing across genres.
