SRK to perform at UAE IPL opening ceremony Shaikh Zayed Stadium to be likely venue By Gautam Bhattacharyya, Sports Editor Published: 21:30 April 1, 2014 Gulf News Bollywood icon Shah Rukh Khan will be once again on stage in the UAE — this time as the star performer at the opening ceremony of the Indian Premier League VII, to be held on April 15 in Abu Dhabi. Khan, who co-owns IPL team Kolkata Knight Riders, was the star attraction at the opening bash of the glamorous league in Kolkata, India, last year. While the local organisers are tight-lipped on the subject, well-placed sources in the IPL told tabloid! that SRK will be putting on a “short performance” on the night before the opening match on April 16. While speculation is rife about the venue, with the choice ranging from the Shaikh Zayed Stadium to any of the marquee hotels in the capital, indications are that the stadium will be preferred should the ground management decide that it won’t cause any damage to the wickets. The opening ceremony of the wealthy league, which has run into rough weather thanks to the recent controversies over allegations of betting and match-fixing, has always banked on a rich Bollywood quotient to provide a dash of glamour and entertainment at its opening ceremonies. While SRK himself has performed at a number of the events, international star Katy Perry performed in 2011. During the second IPL in 2009 held in South Africa — the only other time the league had moved overseas — SRK was part of a street parade with all the teams in an unique ceremony. The expat Indian audience in the UAE is, however, no stranger to SRK’s gigs, his last show being the Access All Areas Concert held at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium on December 1. gulfnews.com/sport/cricket/srk-to-perform-at-uae-ipl-opening-ceremony-1.1312319

No IPL 7 opening ceremony but Shah Rukh Khan will party in UAEA gala dinner at the Emirates Palace will be held on April 15 By Ajanta Paul Published Thursday, April 03, 2014 IPL opening ceremony loses its shine this year. Unlike earlier editions, the opening ceremony has been dropped from this year's Indian Premier League schedule. The yearly sporting extravaganza which generally opens with much pomp and pageantry will be less glitzy. Contrary to recent reports, Emiratets24|7 has confirmed news that Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan will not give any opening ceremony performance in Abu Dhabi.BCCI Chief administrative officer Ratnakar Shetty told Emirates 24|7 , "The opening ceremony has been dropped and on April 15 we will have a gala dinner". The IPL organisers will hold a dinner party at the Emirates Palace. Sources in the SRK team informed Emirates24|7 that the actor will be part of the gala dinner and no opening ceremony performance is lined up. "His shooting schedule is packed right now. He is shooting day and night for Farah Khan's 'Happy New Year' and for any performance they need rehearsals, but Shah Rukh is definitely part of the gala dinner scheduled by IPL", said the source. But being the entertainer that he is no one can overrule an impromptu gig by the star during the gala night. The Board of Control for Cricket in India plans to keep the event low-key amid allegations of spot-fixing and betting in last year's tournament. Though the glamour quotient may be missing but the cricket mania is reaching fever pitch in the UAE. Ready to keep the sporting spirit high fans in the emirates are gearing up in anticipating. UAE will host the first leg of IPL 7 consisting of 20 matches from April 16 to April 30 with Mumbai Indians, the reigning champions, taking on Kolkata Knight Riders, the 2012 winners, in the opening match at the Zayed Cricket Stadium, Abu Dhabi on April 16. The BCCI has announced the ticket pricing and availability for the UAE leg of the event, with tickets going on sale now. The starting price of tickets is from as low as Dh20 for a single match and Dh30 for double-headers in Abu Dhabi. The UAE capital will sport seven of the 20 IPL 7 matches. Tickets can be purchased online on www.iplt20.com and www.ticketmaster.ae. They will also be available at selected Lulu Hypermarkets in Abu Dhabi, Dubai and Sharjah, from Sunday, April 6, whilst stadium box-office sales will start on Thursday, April 10. Starting on April 19, Dubai will host seven of the IPL’s 20 UAE matches at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium. I haven't found a link either. I subscribe to Willow TV on Dishnetwork (USA), where the Opening has been broadcast before. They're now showing an old game from last year.

Edit: Oh I found the Willow tv streaming on youtube - don't know about the opening ceremony but for the matches it'll work. Didn't have TOI a live streaming as well? The IPL Pespi Channel on youtube doesn't show the opening ceremony I think. Well ... I'll wait and see

for the matches this channel should work: www.gocricket.com/I can't pay anything so I am looking for a free channel on youtube like the years before. I think the above mentioned should be okay. For Willow TV I must pay which I can't without a CC.

Okay guys, I have a question. On the IPL site there are a bunch of great videos of the opening ceremonies and SRK's act. Would someone please watch the first one when he starts with Don, does KKHH, ends with Criminal. He is wearing a short sleeved black teeshirt and one arm has hanging things. Now, go look at the later acts with Deepika and this Shane guy etc. In the later ones he has the stubble, the longish hair and the blond streak. In that first one he is clean shaven. Now unless his beard grows so fast in a hour or so, that first set is from some other time. Does anyone else see all this??

I don't know for sure, but that sounds like what he was wearing for some of the earlier years' openings. I suspect they got them mixed up. I don't see any way he could be clean shaven and stubbled in the same performance.

Thank you. Thought I was going mad. It is last years. I went and checked. The actual facts are sort of a loose thing in the Indian press its seems.
