Very important match. So far we have remained in the top 4 as other teams have also been pretty average thanks to Punjab and Chennai's dominance. But if we want to keep that up and not just because of run rate, we need to win. Royals are in same position as us so both teams will be eager to win.

Need to win this.
Still wondering why KKR didn't retain McCullum. They used the right to match card on the likes of Pathan instead. McCullum's made 67(45), 9(10), 6(10), 71(53) and 40(33) runs for CSK which is also more than any KKR batsman.

Yeah I wish they had retained him too, he's an opener and he was in good form last few months. Plus he had actually done quite well for KKR in the new team. (not counting the disaster first three years lol). Sometimes I find KKR team management make very strange decisions. They picked him for 5th IPL when perhaps one logically wouldn't have picked him at that time because he had done so badly for us in that second IPL especially. But then he ended up doing well for us in the new series when we won the tournament (don't think he played last year at all due to international commitments or being on bench), and yet they didn't pick him in the next one. Only thing I might say is I don't think Brendon's batting is too suited to Eden Park so that could be why, but it still doesn't make total sense. And Pathan pick was deifnitely the worst. I remember joking about it with abhi, never thought they would do it.

McCullum has done ok for us over the years, but nothing special (other than that 158 in the first IPL). And CSK and KKR are two completely different batting teams. CSK has the luxury of having a brilliant Indian middle order, with the world-class Dhoni and the IPL-class Raina, which gives the likes of McCullum and Smith at the top of the order full license to go after the bowling every single match. It is not the same with KKR. With KKR, McCullum has had to take the pressure on his shoulders to guide the innings well until the 10th over every single time, especially when Gambhir fails, and he has not been able to handle that pressure well. Having said all that, though, taking Pathan over McCullum was just crazy.

Shakib Al Hasan and Manvinder Bisla are in for Chris Lynn and Yusuf Pathan. Ridiculous ! You are struggling to bat, and you drop your in form batsmAn !!
Who is the KKR coach ? Wasim Akram ? or is he just the bowling coach

Dropping Lynn is a tad harsh. I would rather they drop Kallis or Morkel. Shakib had a good T20 worldcup and made a solid score in his last match for KKR so let's hope he performs.

I have no idea what you have against Kallis man. LOL. He is one of our best performers this season. Morkel I can understand, especially with Pat Cummins as backup. But Kallis is too good a player to drop.

Honestly, I understand the dropping of Kallis point. He does take quite a while to get started. When he converts its excellent because he can up the ante. But when he fails, it looks quite awful. But he can always cover up with his bowling. So he is a mixed bag at worst and match winner when on fire.
But if any overseas player should have been dropped today, it should have been Morkel and not Lynn.

Out of 49 runs in 7 over morkel conceded 34 in 3 overs this is the I was against since auction. He is one of best bawler in test but not in t20 format. That is the reason he was sitting out most of the while he was playing for Delhi I am dam sure tenoschate will not get chance till 11th match of the tournament like previous 3 seasons when everything gets over What is the reason to picking him. Gayle macullum couldn't perform well in first 3 years because of their captain.

Not looking good for KKR. They need a 2-wickets-in-1-over burst from Morkel or Narine here.

If all goes well, we will be chasing 150ish. I don't know how I feel about that Especially after the last match

RR have played Narine better than most of the teams. He goes for 7 runs an over without any wicket. Probably because they don't have too many overseas players in the top order. Rahane was milking him without too many issues

153 to win. Rajhastan are the favorites I'd say. KKR need a quick start.

Narine cannot keep delivering every single game. He was bound to be off one of these days. I guess today was it. I wonder if dew was a factor too, which augurs well for KKR.

Decent start by Gambhir. When Gambhir plays well, KKR are a much better team.
Bisla GONE now.

Another slow start from KKR. The required run rate's going up, they need to accelerate here.

Arite, time to get a move on now. I hope they give Surya a promotion here. Send him in next, even ahead of Pandey.

This is the thing with Kallis not playing as an opener. What is his role now ? Hold up one end ? Because GG is doing that now. He is not the best for going on an allout attack either. Its not his fault. The KKR management has no clear idea on what they want out of players
