mohan10 actually I am happy srk is not this thugs banners movie at least he will be free to make movie like zero, salute etc. but problem is that he need one clean box office hit movie and this two thug not allowing him to get it first they announce sultan to clash with raees and now simba maker (dharma) want to stop progress of zero. I appericiate how manmohan desai and Prakash Mehra give big movies to amitabh even in his declining stage This two thugs are really ungrateful to srk. Even yashraj made big issue during don vs dhoom2 release. The way Aditya humiliated SRK with Sultan vs Raees in front of the whole world was embarrassing, he had him running faster than Usain Bolt.
I get that producers move to more profitable stars as the time goes by, but Dharma and YRF are what they are today thanks to SRK, so one would expect Aditya to extend a helping hand for a friend in need. Karan has always been an opportunist so him jumping from one star to another is not a surprise. BTW Dharma films rarely set the BO on fire, its Aditya that irritates me the most.
Karan is releasing Simba 5 days after Zero, god forbid if somehow they end pulling another BM vs Dilwale .....
I have been critical of SRK' s choices in the past, but i do feel for him, he can't catch a break ffs.

Thugs Of Hindostan: Aamir Khan changes his stand on Diwali releases; is he eying Rs. 50 crore on Day 1? By Fenil Seta, Sep 24, 2018 - 10:41 am IST In recent times, we’ve seen how collections of films can go to an insane level if released on festivals or holidays. The classic and recent example is of the Akshay Kumar-starrer Gold and John Abraham-starrer Satyameva Jayate. These were the Independence Day releases of 2018 and opened at Rs. 25.25 crore and Rs. 19.50 crore respectively, sending shockwaves in the industry. Nobody expected these movies to open so well considering the clash and the star power. Both the film then fell down after the holiday period but the first day collections were enough to put them in the safe zone. Now, the festival of Diwali is less than two months away and the big release of that festival would be Thugs Of Hindostan. Starring Aamir Khan, Amitabh Bachchan, Katrina Kaif and Fatima Sana Shaikh, it is expected to be a big-screen spectacle. A huge opening or rather the biggest opener is on the cards. But the trade had its doubts about that since the film initially was scheduled to release on the Diwali day itself. It is the day when majority of the audiences are busy with the pooja and indulging with family and relatives. Hence, it has been observed that the collections on the day of Diwali are usually dull. This is a rare festival day that faces such a phenomenon. During the rest of the festivals – be it Eid or Ramzan or Dussehra – the collections are usually higher than normal. But in case of Diwali, the day after the festival is a holiday and that’s when collections roar. Earlier, the filmmakers had no qualms of releasing their film on Diwali. After all, there was no pressure on creating box office records. But now, the scenario has changed. Also, now the filmmakers fear that if their film releases on Diwali day and garners negative word of mouth, then audiences might not come in hordes on the beneficial post-Diwali day. This was first observed in 2013 when Krrish 3 released on Friday November 1, with the Diwali falling on Sunday November 3. There were reports that the film has got thumbs down from audiences as the three-day collections were not that great. Fortunately for the makers, the film went on a high on Day 4, collecting Rs. 35.91 crore, which was the highest single-day figure ever for a Hindi film at that point. Krrish 3 managed to work but the other filmmakers were not ready to take the risk. Hence, the next two years – 2015 and 2016 – saw the Shah Rukh Khan-starrer Happy New Year and Salman Khan-starrer Prem Ratan Dhan Payo respectively releasing on post-Diwali day. The move paid off as both films had record openings. Last year, two films released on Diwali – Aamir Khan’s home production Secret Superstar and Ajay Devgn–Rohit Shetty’s Golmaal Again. Interestingly, while Golmaal Again released on the day after Diwali, Secret Superstar chose to arrive on the festival of lights. This was possibly done since Secret Superstar was a smaller film and didn’t need to have a blockbuster opening. Golmaal Again was a big release and it required to make an impact on the first day. Hence, this arrangement looked fine. However, at an event to promote Secret Superstar, Aamir Khan revealed (see video below) that the reason he’s coming on the said day is because ‘Diwali ek shubh din maana jaata hai. So, we want to release on a day which is emotionally important to us.” The stage was hence set for Thugs Of Hindostan to hit theatres on Diwali. However, when the logo was unveiled last week, the makers announced that they would now arrive on the day after Diwali, Thursday November 8, instead on Diwali that fell on Wednesday November 7! This came as a surprise since just last year, Aamir Khan had made a contrary statement and that Thugs Of Hindostan was supposed to release on Diwali day all this while. However, it seems like the hunger to create an opening day record and thereby history tempted Aamir to change his stand. The buzz for Thugs Of Hindostan is so tremendous that even if it comes on a non-holiday, it can collect Rs. 40 crore plus on its first day. Now that it’s coming on post-Diwali day which is also a national holiday of sorts, and also the ticket rates would be inflated, sky would be the limit. Till date, the highest collection of a movie in a day is by Sanju when it netted Rs. 46.71 crore on its third day. Hence, one can expect Thugs Of Hindostan to cross this figure and even be the first film ever to hit the Rs. 50 crore mark in a day! www.bollywoodhungama.com/news/features/thugs-hindostan-aamir-khan-changes-stand-diwali-releases-eying-rs-50-crore-day-1/

Mohenjodaro trailer looks sholay now. Except bigB's few dialogues movie looks cartoonish. Amir overact very well after mela. He repeat himself in many movies post Lagan. Total mixture of Lagan, Tashan, rang de basanti and mangal panday but people will call it genius even though he repeat himself in 10 more movies. Still movie will do 300 Cr because people will digest as a masterpiece including some srk fans.

I always find his scripts have more merits than him as actor, for SRK lately is the other way round, SRK is better actor than the scripts he ends up doing.
So the narrative becomes good scripts = good actor which is simplistic but that is what Aamir has going for him since Lagaan.
You cant fault him for that, he is a limited actor but camouflages that with better scripts than SRK who is the superior actor between the two.

^^^ well said. If SRK was in this thugs movie.. it would have been ridiculed to no end just by its trailer. Thats what i fear most about Zero. If aamir played a dwarf, it would instantly gain appreciation. The general opinion isnt that great with SRK playing a dwarf. but thats a different topic completely

Yes this is what I wanted to say, if Srk does this movies every tom, dick, Harry would have become critics and tried to find small error, tacky vfx, OTT acting, wooden face Katrina, 75 year old man fighting like warrior blah blah....now every one forgot negative points and busy in projecting how this movie will create record just to hide other technical stuff.

The general opinion isnt that great with SRK playing a dwarf. but thats a different topic completely I agree, it’s all perception and let’s be honest SRK doesn’t have a favorable one right now. His image has burned down to the ground by his friends filmakers milking his selling King Khan tag from the 90s-00s That product has expired by a decade now and SRK fault has been that he didn’t step away from it when he was on top of the world. Now you have the younger audience 15-20 years olds who basically grown up seeing SRK being ridiculed for his films

What Are The Expectations For Thugs Of Hindustan? Thursday 18 October 2018 11.00 IST Box Office India Trade Network Q. What are the expectations for Thugs Of Hindustan as it does seem to be negative in the media and on social media? A. Mitra A. Does it really matter. It reflects the minority of the film going audience. Films like Tumbbad and Andhadhun are masterpieces for these people but how many people going to the theatres 5 lakhs and 50 lakhs respectively and on top both will be forgotten after the theatrical run by viewers. Yes talkers will talk but talk does not give any returns. There may be that limited section of the audience which goes for the above films which may not have liked Thugs Of Hindustan trailer but you have Aamir Khan to cover a chunk of this audience as he has biggest pull with metro premium multiplex audience. There was similar talk with Tiger Zinda Hai last year but there was no stopping the film. All commercial masala films like this rest on emotions to go on after the initial, if the reasons as to what is happening on screen is correct for the audience which leads to emotions working then it will beat Dangal and become the highest grossing film for our industry. If the emotions dont work with the audience then such a spectacle will still get 300 crore or close. Bahubali is a phenomenal film and honestly speaking its unlikely a Hindi filmmaker can have the conviction to go into mass commercial formula to that level due to that high end multiplex audience which we have in the Hindi market so as a film its tough to compare with Bahubali. Those Bahubali records will not be beaten by a better film as its going takes ages for that but it will be beaten as the market grows and ticket rates get higher and that will take some time. Of course if Thugs Of Hindustan is truly a phenomenal piece of cinema then anything can happen but that can only be judged after release. The film is a big screen spectacle so it will help if its kept to the big screen and footage as promos and songs is kept to a limit and then the actors dont run around doing the usual interview rubbish which actual bores the audience to death as its so repetitive. The media may not like as it costs them access to the stars and less coverage on digital space but thats not the problem of the makers. boxofficeindia.com/report-details.php?articleid=4356

Regarding Vashmalle, looks like a decent song with decent choreography Looks like they have tried to re-create the atmosphere of Tortuga from Pirates of Caribbean, where all sorts of debauchery happens, displaying the life of a Pirate And Aamir is clearly trying to be goofy like Jack Sparrow with a desi touch, but is looking more like an unhinged Hobbit But overall, has all the elements to be a chartbuster

Thugs Of Hindostan Opening Day: Aamir Khan is coming to defeat Salman Khan, Shah Rukh Khan and Ajay Devgn! By Himesh Mankad Oct 23, 2018 - 8:23 am IST The countdown for the big Diwali 2018, Thugs of Hindostan starring Aamir Khan, Amitabh Bachchan, Katrina Kaif and Fatima Sana Shaikh has begun. With less than 20 days left for the film release, the trade has started the prediction game, wherein the expectations as far as opening is concerned lies in the range of Rs 42 to 55 crore. Whenever a Khan film has released solo during the Diwali weekend, the post-Diwali day, which is considered to be the biggest holiday of the year, has recorded the biggest single day collection of all time. And Thugs of Hindostan is expected to be no different. The film produced and distributed by YRF will be looking to release on approximately 4700 to 4800 screens in India, thereby being the biggest release of all time. The current record holder for the widest Bollywood release is Salman Khan’s Tiger Zinda Hai that released on nearly 4600 screens across India. The last two Khan releases on Diwali i.e. Happy New Year (3850 Screens) and Prem Ratan Dhan Payo (4200) clocked 70 to 75% occupancy on their opening day and proved to be record openers collecting around the Rs 40 crore mark. If Thugs of Hindostan opens at the same level i.e. 70 to 75% occupancy on 4800 screens, the opening day collections would be around Rs 45 crore, and this is without considering the year by year inflation and the GST benefit that Thugs of Hindostan will get. If we add the inflation (increase in ticket rates) as well as the GST benefit to the above figure, then the opening day collection of Thugs of Hindostan should be around Rs 51 to 53 crore as the average tax % fell from 35% to 28%. At 100% occupancy on 4800 screens, the opening day collections of Thugs of Hindostan will be around Rs 72 to 74 crore, however this would be an impractical expectation given the fact that Thugs of Hindostan is the widest release of all time and opening day occupancy in excess of 65% would be a great result for the film. Touching Rs 50 crore mark will also depend on the cinema strike in Madhya Pradesh, as if the strike continues till the release of Thugs of Hindostan, the film will lose out on approximately 7% of its business, which means that the opening would be around Rs 46 to 47 crore. With or without Madhya Pradesh, it is almost certain that Thugs of Hindostan will emerge the biggest opener of all time for Bollywood on 8th November 2018 and defeat the opening day collections of films like SS Rajamouli’s Baahubali: The Conclusion, Salman Khan’s Prem Ratan Dhan Payo and Shah Rukh Khan’s Happy New Year. The movie will also surpass the day 3 i.e. Sunday collections of Sanju (Rs 46.71 crore) and hold the record for the biggest single day collections of all time. Last year saw the release of Ajay Devgn’s Golmaal Again on the Post-Diwali day and the film clocked occupancy of 70% on 3300 screens and raked in a little over Rs 30 crore in India. The release size of Golmaal Again was fractured due to a clash with Secret Superstar, however with a solo release; it did stand a chance to rake in Rs 40 crore on its opening day. None the less, Thugs of Hindostan will be looking to match up to the occupancy percentage of Happy New Year, Prem Ratan Dhan Payo and Golmaal Again on the post Diwali day and rake in some unheard figures on its opening day. We would go ahead with an optimistic prediction of Rs 51 crore if the film releases in Madhya Pradesh and Rs 46.50 crore if it doesn’t find a release in Madhya Pradesh. Although the response to the theatrical trailer as well as first song is quite mixed, it doesn’t really impact the opening day prospects of the film as it is the biggest film of the year starring one of India’s biggest Superstar, Aamir Khan and releasing on the biggest day of the year i.e. Post Diwali. The pre-release hype and excitement will help the film take an earth-shattering start and it will only be from the 3rd or 4th day that the word of mouth will come into picture. The film has all the commercial trappings which include an item number by Katrina Kaif, to get the audience at the B and C centres on board, whereas Aamir Khan is undoubtedly the biggest crowd puller in the metros and the culmination of these two factors should ensure a huge opening all across i.e. EAST – WEST – NORTH – SOUTH. Widest Releases of Bollywood: Tiger Zinda Hai: 4600 screens Dangal: 4250 screens Prem Ratan Dhan Payo: 4200 screens Sanju: 4200 screens Baahubali 2: 3950 screens www.bollywoodhungama.com/news/features/thugs-hindostan-opening-day-aamir-khan-coming-defeat-salman-khan-shah-rukh-khan-ajay-devgn/

22,000 Plus Shows, 5000 Screens, 1 Film – Aamir Khan’s Thugs Of Hindostan Already Creates An All Time Record! The final show count as well as screen count would depend on the release status in Madhya Pradesh. By Himesh Mankad - October 29, 2018 With just 9 days to go for the release of Thugs Of Hindostan, the industry is expecting nothing but an earth-shattering start at the box office on 8th November 2018. Starring Aamir Khan, Amitabh Bachchan, Katrina Kaif and Fatima Sana Shaikh in lead, the action entertainer will release on approximately 5000 screens in India (Hindi + Tamil + Telugu). A few days back ,we reported how the rates for the film will be 10% higher than Sanju, thereby having the costliest average price per ticket. And now, the exhibition centre has confirmed that the film will get record showcasing across India. Given the pre-release demand for the film from the audience, the exhibitors in metros have decided to open gates at their cinema halls as early as 7.00 am. This is a feat that happens for very few films with a couple of them being Aamir Khan films like 3 Idiots, Dhoom 3 and PK. As the run-time of the film is approximately 2 hour 45 minutes (165 minutes), the exhibitors have decided to allot a 3-hour 10-minute slot per show to the film. On an average, the film will have 5 – 6 shows per screen at the multiplexes whereas 4-5 shows per screen at the single screens, differing from theatre to theatre and territory to territory. Taking into consideration all factors, the Aamir Khan film will at-worst have 22,000 plus shows across the country, with a possibility of the count touching the 25,000 shows mark. There will be a lot of multiplexes across India that would give at-least one show per day per screen to Badhaai Ho, which is expected to continue its’ golden streak even in the Diwali weekend. That apart, it is all going to be a Thugs of Hindostan show. The final show count as well as screen count would depend on the release status in Madhya Pradesh. If Thugs of Hindostan fails to get a release in the state, the pan-India screen count would be around 4600 to 4650 screens, and the show count would be around the 20,000 mark. There is a solid enquiry regarding the advance booking status of the film all across the country, and the tickets are expected to sell like hot-cakes. To inform all our readers, the advance ticket sales will open from Saturday, 3rd November, 2018 at most of the centres – be it single screens or multiplexes. So the countdown has begun as the audience gear up to see Aamir Khan and Amitabh Bachchan together in a film as humongous as Thugs of Hindostan. How excited are you for this action entertainer? www.koimoi.com/bollywood-news/22000-plus-shows-5000-screens-1-film-aamir-khans-thugs-of-hindostan-already-creates-an-all-time-record/

Thugs looks so bad!! But pseudo intellectual Aamir has created this image of himself that he makes only good movies. Even though the promos look terrible, people will still go see it because of Aamir's reputation.

This movie hasn't looked impressive at all. This is the first time in a while that an Aamir Khan movie has looked so bad before its release. I don't even remember when was the last time a movie with him didn't carry a positive vibe to the theater. Even Dhoom3 trailer was good, although the movie itself turned out to be complete sh!t. Incidentally it's the same director.
