The Imitation Game (5 Stars) Saw this last night - absolutely outstanding! Amazing (true) story with brilliant acting and extremely moving. From the first scene it's obvious the main character has Aspergers Syndrome, though its never stated, and a couple of lines made me think the script-writers had perhaps seen MNIK. Is your rating 5/5 or 5/10? Not really clear, but the rest of your review is so outstanding...

The interview - 3/10
Immature, juvenile humor. Usual overdose of nauseating gay jokes. Few chuckles here and there. Only watched it for the controversy.

The Imitation Game- Amazing movie and just brilliant performance by Benedict Cumberbatch as well as the kid who played young Alan Turing. Matthew Goode and Keira Knightly also did very well in their roles. The movie had me interested the whole time- I wasn't bored at all. Also liked the balance of focus between the code cracking vs the personal life. Glad I saw this one in theatres, initially might have waited for it to come out on dvd/blu ray. 10/10
Also saw Taken 3 a couple of days ago, it's decent but I think first two were better. Of course, I wasn't really expecting anything other than a somewhat brainless action flick, but even accounting for that, I was a bit disappointed because it wasn't as interesting or thrilling as the others. But I always like seeing Liam Neeson act.

Gone Girl - 9/10
Just amazing. The movie had me glued from start to finish. David Fincher is such a master of his craft. Although, I would still rank this below FightClub and The Social Network. Excellent performances from the leads too. Riveting.

David Fincher is brilliant - Fight Club, Gone Girl, Se7en, Zodiac, Social Network, Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. Havent seen a bad movie from him, although I found Benjamin Button to be a massive bore.

Havent seen a bad movie from him, although I found Benjamin Button to be a massive bore. David is indeed brilliant. I still think Fight Club was his genius best! As how he captured the novel's complexity and its mad spirit in just a couple of hours film is mind boggling. The film is still as relevant and as fresh as if being released yesterday! And yes, Benjamin Button was such a bore!

Downfall (2004) a German film on Hitler's last 10 days. Quite impressive and the acting is superb including the direction.

recently re-watched Slumdog Millionaire on TV - that is a hard movie to watch ... pretty grim! still, it was interesting to see it again. I wonder who choreographed Jai Ho in the end? it was too good to have been Farah. I must google it! EDIT: I googled it, if anyone's interested: according to IMDB it was: Longiness Fernandes ... choreographer: "Jai Ho" dance sequence (uncredited) this was the 2nd last credit of the entire Cast & Crew!

saw a while ago, Boyhood- 8.5/10 A very good 'coming of age' movie, and the way it is filmed over 12 years is amazing. I could really relate to a lot of moments. However, i gotta say, I dont' think it deserves any of the awards it's getting, didn't think it was that special other than the being filmed over 12 years thing. I'm really disappointed that stuff like Gone Girl, Interstellar is being snubbed -not even a nomination, and this is winning. But I hardly ever agree with awards these days, so I guess shouldn't be surprised.

Whiplash - 10/10
Holy sh*t, what a movie, absolutely insane. This has got to be one of the best films I have ever seen. The finale was incredible and JK Simmons has to get that Oscar.

Green Lantern - 7/10
This had been sitting in my DVR for months and finally watched it last night. It was pretty good and Ryan Reynolds was perfectly cast. There are definitely flaws, starting with everything being ridiculously all over the place, way too many characters that end up quite underdeveloped each. It is as predictable as superhero movies get, and you get a been-there-seen-that feel to it, but it is still quite decently enjoyable in the end. Probably because of Ryan Reynolds, and I kept thinking through out the movie how good he could have been had he played Iron Man.

Blackhat - 6/10
Had decent expectations from this flick because I really enjoy Michael Mann's work (Miami Vice, Heat, Collateral). But was very underwhelming and disappointing. My main fears were the cast not working, because they were trying to pass Thor (Hemsworth) as the world's best hacker. Surprisingly the cast worked very well, but the movie failed on the scripting and technical departments.
Movie got destroyed because of the forced romantic angle. And the action made me nauseous because it was shaky-cam like you have never seen it before. 3D movies never gave me a headache, but this movie's action managed to do so in 2D.

Un Samaiyal Araiyil (Tamil) - 8/10
Prakash Raj is just brilliant. Every one of his directorial ventures has been different and while not path-breaking, very enjoyably different from the regular fare that tamil cinema churns out of its recycling plant. What a feast to the eyes this film is, made me hungry a dozen times through the film. There are sidetracks that don't add any value to the movie, that being its biggest flaw. But to weave a story around food was just brilliant and with the delicious opening titles, they had me at hello.

American Sniper- wouldn't have really gone to see this movie if I hadn't been asked by a friend. But I'm not sad I went, cause I thought it was a very well made movie and Bradley Coopers acting was brilliant. It also felt very real and intense- all the war scenes and the locations etc, I really felt like I was there. Only bad thing is probably some typical american propoganda in there but I expected that anyway. 8/10

watched Hitchcock. love Helen Mirren and Anthony Hopkins, but found AH performance cringe-worthy (maybe that's just Hitchcock!) and Helen Mirren's role of Alma (Mrs Hitchcock) made her out to be responsible for every success that he ever had (maybe she wrote the movie!)

Kingman: The Secret Service - 10/10
Very rarely does it happen that you go into the movie with high expectations and the movie exceeds your expectations. That's what happened with Kingsman last night.
Perfect mix of humor and action. The action is so very well choreographed - real, classical sequences instead of mindless explosions which are passed off as action these days. Some of the sequences will be memorable even after several years (the church sequence and the synchronised explosions for instance). Colin Firth is absolutely brilliant, and so is Taron Egerton. Samuel Jackson as the violence hating bad guy is hilariously evil.
Keeping in mind the new Avengers, Terminator, Jurassic Park, Star Wars, etc. coming later this year I will make a bold prediction that Kingsman will be the Most Memorable Action Movie of the Year !!

Recently I saw The Imitation Game, The Theory Of Everything and American Sniper. As a film I liked The Imitation Game the most. But all films had brilliant performances from their respective cast.
I also saw the Taken Series, but I thought part 1 and 2 were way better than Part 3.
Then last weekend I saw the two films the Reboot Star Trek Series. Really liked both of them.

Jupiter Ascending - 7/10
Could have been amazing since the universe created in the movie was very rich and just fantastic to look it. Sadly, the story was very generic and performances were mediocre. Would give it a 5, but deserves +2 for the effects and gorgeous visuals

Kingman: The Secret Service - 9/10
Two words to sum up this film - awesome and super-entertaining. It's one of the best films I've watched in recent times and quite different from other action/spy films. The best thing is the perfect mix of action, comedy and drama. The last 30-40 minutes, in particular, were epic.
American Sniper - 7/10
Not really my type of film but it was a good watch. Bradley Cooper put in another great performance.

While a few years back I would have thought Ajay to be a good choice, I hope he still remembers how to act, for this film to turn out well.

anyone seen The Judge? i thought it was pretty amazing. i'm a big fan of Robert Downey Jr so i may be a bit biased, but i loved it. would give it a 9/10.
also seen Night Crawler recently, and would give it a 7/10. a pretty silent movie that knows how to send the message.
