Nice. Who do you think ours would be?
Gambhir Narine Russell (his ban should be over by now I think. And if it is, don't let him go) Pandey (this one's a very personal choice for me, despite a bad IPL last time) Uthappa Shakib as toss-up with Russell. I don't think too many other franchises will go for Shakib even if they give him up.
What the....... Why? If a franchise can do well by spending on 20 crores on a squad, great for them!! This is stupid.

@knight Even if you don't retain Narine for his bowling, you kinda HAVE to now for his batting! Hehe

^ WHAT???? I just don't understand that. They have a core that has done pretty well for them over the last few seasons, consistently making the playoffs. Why completely dismantle it. And on top of it, letting Gambhir go is just plain stupid, especially with the great Ranji form he has shown this year!

Sounds like they will use right-to-match on Gambhir. Good strategy in the end. Narine and Russell are absolutely shoe-ins, so good choices there. Good chance we will have a completely new-look team this year. I'm not sure I like it, I like the KKR core as it stands today.

^ But, what other candidates ARE there? McCullum is probably the only one that comes to mind. You'd ideally want an Indian player as captain, but Baz is now retired so can play full-time. And if they decide to RTM Lynn, that keeps the Brisbane Heat combination in place, so perhaps they are already in discussion with them already.

^ Yeah, was thinking about Munro. KKR may shell out big for him, especially given that he already plays TKR in the CPL. Gayle won't be as hot this year I think. Evin Lewis is a good shout though. With the Eden track being relaid recently and not being as helpful for spinners as it has been in the past, don't really see KKR going after Kuldeep. We better dump Yusuf this auction. And if indeed do that, there is a decent chance I think that he goes unsold.
Gambhir is old, sure. But for me, its more a case of who else they got out there to be a full-time captain? And Gambhir has been a really really good captain for us over the years. I like Piyush's contribution too over the years, consistently picks up 1 or 2 wickets every game. I guess I'm just bummed to see the overall core of the team go. Hehe.

Yusuf suspended for 5 months. Good riddance, at least KKR won't pick him anymore.

Starc and Lynn for 9 crore each. Are they that good? Haven't watched cricket in years now.

KKR bought 4 overseas players at half of their purse. Too bad bidding

Who will captain is the same question I had too after the auction. But given how closely Uthappa has worked with Gambhir over the years, easy to see him captain this side. Overall, I could not be happier with this squad. Russell, Narine, Lynn and Starc as the overseas players is a dream XI.

The only take away for me so far is we still have the strongest spin attack compared to all 8 teams. Our middle order as of now is untested and seems too weak. Just look at how deep MI can bat. Gautham Gambhir, Manish Pandey and Surya Yadav were the KKR batting pillars and I have a strong feeling, GG will be the batsmen of the tournament this year.

Poor choice. I would have actually gone in with Vinay Kumar instead, but I guess the question was whether he would make the starting XI every game. Its a bit of a punt really, this squad. They could fire like crazy and become a monstrous team. Or they could die a really quick death early on. There is no middle-ground with this squad.

Meanwhile, Gautam Gambhir has been appointed captain of Delhi Daredevils (GG captains DD). The match against KKR should be fun. Knowing Gambhir, he is bound to convey his thoughts clearly

Karthik just showed again that he is in red hot form right now and seems to have matured well enough. Looking forward to seeing him as KKR's captain

@$&@#%&!#@$%*%!@@%*!#@%%
Damn it. This is the big problem with shelling out big money for Starc. When he is fully fit, he is the very best in the game today. But more often than not, he just isn't fit enough. Bah, what a horrible start for us. Now we have to play Johnson every game (thank God they picked him as backup), and he is just not quite the same as Starc in Indian conditions.

^ Not bad. Not bad at all. He can bowl yorkers at will, from what I have seen and can decently hold a bat too.

I was watching the "expert" reviews of the team based on auction performance. Most teams scored 3.5 with a couple going 4 or more.
KKR was the only team to score 1.5 . Now I don't watch cricket anymore so I can't really tell one player from another, but that sounds like a significantly inferior team compared to the rest.

What an absolutely horrendous last over from Vinay Kumar. So far anyway, he can still make it up. But his place in the team makes zero sense at this point. If you are going to leak runs at the top, then at the death and can't bat..... not really sure what you are in the team for. Might as well try another youngster instead. Couldn't be worse.

It is beyond my understanding how vinay kumar still have a buyer and insterestingly he makes into playing eleven and top of that he treated as a strike bawler. Kkr lose 2 easy point. Today team was playing without genuine fast bawler.
