It would be unfair to call Simmba a "dumb masala movie".
This film was far more enjoyable than a lot of other Indian films I've seen this year. Sure, it's formulaic, but when you're successful at replicating the formula, you get a damn entertaining film.

There are a lot of dumb movies who failed miserably including some from our own SRK
Simmba is nothing new but was well marketed by KJO

If only things were so simple - a bad review breaks a film and good marketing makes it a blockbuster. Both make a very big assumption that the paying audience is stupid.

There are a lot of dumb movies who failed miserably including some from our own SRK Simmba is nothing new but was well marketed by KJO See Dilwale..also from Rohit shetty but he didn't really even try with that one (classic SRK bad luck). Simmba is dumb af but it's still at least a bit entertaining. So much for "content is king" though, make a solid masala movie that isn't complete s*** like Thugs or Race 3 and people will still like it.

In Dilwale he had to facilitate the SRK legacy baggage, the arms pose, slick abroad shots,DDLJ references etc
Here he had nothing other that being himself and do what he does best.
The whole Bulgaria romance sequel with Kajol was so cringy and tacky, they made a cocktail of a film with every thing in it but it end begin a stinky one

If I make list of top songs in 90s this will not make even in top 100 but in 2019 this song is hot favorite this shows the level of music composer in this decade.

True, bollywood songs have gone to s*** this decade. It started to get worse during the second half of the last decade but this is a new low. 90's were on another level in this regard, so many quality songs

Never imagined that I would have to hear this crappy song again after 2 decades. This re-mixing old stuff is such a curse to music industry. It killed the private albums in the 90s and now its eating bollywood music too.

With the way the indian audience & critics picked apart the Khan's movies this year but somehow are loving this dumb movie it seems instead of the "content driven is a must" circlejerk, it's more like people are sick of the Khan's and are preferring younger actors (makes sense I guess but the hypocrisy gets annoying).
I'm no fan of any of the Khan's movies this year but you can easily trash this movie a lot as well, especially with how it handles rape & female characters but nothing on that has been said.

I saw an open letter addressed to all three of them. SRK and Salman had flops in the past couple of years but poor Aamir lol! He had one flop and people are tearing him apart.

People are acting like they have been all declining in the past few years which isn't true at all. I don't like this anti Kham circlejerk, feels like people want them to fail now.

Well the 3 don't seem to have any hate for each other anymore but it's not a "Brotherhood" I suppose. Media loves to act as if they were one person though

Salman and Aamir are still delivering/delivered the biggest hits for the last 10 years Their "struggle" have nothing in common with SRK, i am seeing that some SRK fans are building up this 3 Khans vs the media story lol SRK has is own problems regardless of Race3 and TOH numbers Looking for a silver lining. Stop it

Simmba Box Office: Enters The 200 Crore Club In Just 12 Days! The next milestone for Simmba is 250 crore and one waits to see when does the film reach there. By Joginder Tuteja - January 9, 2019 Simmba Box Office: In just 12 days, Simmba has entered the 200 Crore Club. The film collected 6.03 crore on Tuesday and with that, the overall collections read as 202.83 crore. This is simply fantastic. For Ranveer Singh, this is now his second biggie of 2018 after Padmaavat that entered the 300 Crore Club. Last time an actor did that was when Salman Khan had a 300 Crore Club film Bajrangi Bhaijaan and a 200 Crore Club film Prem Ratan Dhan Payo releasing in 2015. Rohit Shetty too now has scored his third 200 Crore Club film. His earlier biggies have been Chennai Express and Golmaal Again, lifetime collections of both of which would be surpassed in very quick time. As for Sara Ali Khan, 2018 has emerged as a superb debut year for her as Kedarnath was a success and now Simmba has simply hit the roof. The next milestone for Simmba is 250 crore and one waits to see when does the film reach there. Blockbuster. Note: All collections as per production and distribution sources www.koimoi.com/box-office/simmba-box-office-enters-the-200-crore-club-in-just-12-days/

Stop it You are right. Even if Salman and Aamir decline now they have basically ruled this decade...the less said about SRK in this decade the better (no need to repeat). Its not just SRK fans who are doing that though, the media is pushing the fall of the 3 Khans quite a bit.

It's Ranveer's PR that is spreading that around. Same way they are doing the 'Ranveer is the next SRK" stuff. There are already 10 next-SRKs that have already come and gone and disappeared.
Even Kartik Aryan was trying to do the next-SRK after he had those hit misogynist movies.

Simmba Is Ninth Highest Second Week Ever Friday 11 January 2019 10.00 IST Box Office India Trade Network Simmba had an excellent hold in week two as it grossed 60.75 crore nett apprx which is a fall of 60%. It was a bumped up first week with a big holiday so the 60% fall is very good trend. The second week collections are also the 9th highest ever for the second week The collections of the film till date are 211 crore nett with Mumbai crossing 75 crore nett in just two weeks. If the film continues to trend like the second week then then the film will cross the 250 crore nett but that is unlikely due to the new releases this week. The film is now the highest grossing film for Rohit Shetty as it has crossed the 208 crore nett of Chennai Express and will be second for Ranveer Singh after Padmaavat which grossed 282 crore nett. The collections of Simmba till date are as follows. Week One- 1,50,26,00,000 Week Two - 60,75,00,000 apprx TOTAL - 2,11,01,00,000 apprx The film will cross Padmaavat in Mumbai over the weekend but Padmaavat was without Gujarat. Golmaal again did 87 crore nett in Mumbai which may be reached by Simmba. If it does this then it will become the 7th highest grosser ever in Mumbai and only behind the all India 300 crore nett plus films. boxofficeindia.com/report-details.php?articleid=4616

Simmba Third Weekend Business Monday 14 January 2019 10.30 IST Box Office India Trade Network Simmba had a good third weekend as the film collected around 12.50 crore nett which has taken its business to around 223.50 crore nett. The drop is bigger than last week as it competed with two new releases. This drop makes it difficult for Simmba to reach the 250 crore nett mark although next week the competition less but if Uri holds up on the weekdaya it will be that film which will benefit most. The most likely finish for Simmba is the 240-245 crore nett range. Simmba is the 10th highest NETT grosser of all time and will remain that way while it is the 14th highest in terms of GROSS collections but will reach 10th in terms of GROSS as well. The collections of Simmba till date are as follows. Week One- 1,50,26,00,000 Week Two - 60,75,00,000 apprx Friday - 2,75,00,000 apprx Saturday - 4,50,00,000 apprx Sunday - 5,25,00,000 apprx TOTAL - 2,23,51,00,000 apprx The footfalls of the film are still to reach 2 crore and look to be heading in the sme range as Golmaal Again. They may just about cross 2 crore depending on the next week or so.. boxofficeindia.com/report-details.php?articleid=4623
