Just watched Bhoothnath Returns. It is surprisingly good and has a great message. SRK is on screen for 30 seconds but it is worth seeing for itself.

Saw Bhootnath Returns as well. It was funny in parts, had heart in the right place but it did not really get there. I mean the Bhoot was not Bhoot enough and the Bhau was not bad enough. Could have been so much better. Could not help but notice a few things like {Spoiler}before his death Bhootnath was Kailash Nath, a resident of Goa. Now he is contesting the Elections under the name of Bhootnath. His nomination is challenged on the grounds that the candidate has to be a voter and hence alive to be able to contest elections. However it is proved that no death certificate was issued and someone voted under his name in the last elections, thus can't be proved dead. Now the thing is no one can see Kailash Nath and voter ID can't be in the name of Bhootnath. Plus they forgot he was a resident of Goa and hence must be able to vote there but someone voted in his name in the last election in Mumbai. Though may seem like nitpicking however I feel these are small things needed to keep in mind when a sequel is made.

Mere Tera Hero. I now understand why the fact that SRK does not come from a filmy family is such a big deal . If Varun Dhawan's father wasn't a director he NEVER would have made it. These new kids as they are often called don't seem to have any charisma. No wonder the young are still flocking to the 3 Khans, especially our SRK.

These new kids as they are often called don't seem to have any charisma. No wonder the young are still flocking to the 3 Khans, especially our SRK. Exactly !! The new kids all look like they have been mass produced on an assembly line - lean chiseled bodies, dance moves, attitude and style. But assembly lines can only produce machines not personalities. SRK never needed a fab body to get noticed. He never needed "cool" action moves to grab the audiences attention. Heck, he got mashed to pulp in movies like Dar, Baazigar and yet managed to capture the audience's imagination. Thats the magic of his personality and his acting.

I agree. None of the new guys like Varun, Arjun, Ranveer etc are overly impressive. And some of their fans think they're going to be the next SRK or something like that.

Heropanti - 8/10
Thought I'd give it a watch. Better than I expected. Was an entertaining and fast paced thriller from start to finish. Tiger Shroff does a great job, he's unconventional looking but quite impressive in his first film. Hope he gets more films.

The Lunchbox - 10/10I watched The Lunchbox yesterday, and man.. what a film! It's really a shame that it wasn't India's selection for the oscars , easily the best indian film made in the last 5 years, here is why (no spoilers): 1- the originality: sadly, it's not a priority for alot of indian filmmakers, but this film broke that tradition and gave something unusual, new and fresh in both the dramatic and technical aspects (polt, acting, direction..etc). 2- The story: hats off to the writers for the insanely creative idea of ''the lunchbox'' and utilising it to link the protagonists and thus creating one fascinating and yet believable connection between the two. The situations are quite realistic, emotional and funny at times. It was also interesting to see the characters change and how their relations evolved throughout the film.. I loved the unconventional ending because I was expecting something clichéd, but I was pleasantly surprised. 3- The Dialogues: smooth, well written with some catchy lines and thoughts. 4- The performances: the acting in this film generally, is by far the best I've seen in any hindi film, the actors were credible and very natural and didn't feel at any point that it's over done. *Irffan: He was amazing and his dialogue delivery is superb.. he acts with alot of ease or at least as it seems to me . *Nimrat: Good actress and really gorgeous , she did justice to her character, and I can't help but wondering , where was she before this? I hope she acts with SRK soon. *Nawazuddin: An extension of Irffan's talent.. a brilliant actor. he plays the role of an intrusive guy but in a funny way, some of his interactions with irffan are so much fun to watch . 5-Direction: good and pretty decent for a directorial debut.. Love the way he shot the city, I thought it was artistic. 6- Some other technical aspects: *Editing: the way some scenes were linked (actors actions, songs), and how some flashbacks were used, techniques like this gave the film a whole feel of newness. *Music: background music plays an important part.. like there are those long gaps of no-music, only the sounds of people and the surrounding props until the right moment then you hear a suitable tune for the situation, which makes it more effective emotionally. Brief: I totally enjoyed watching this film and I highly recommend it if you haven't seen it yet.. Like Louis C.K. tweeted about it: ''incredible beautiful movie.. whoever you are, you have to see it.''

Not really good at rating movies with numbers or stars or whatnot, but I recently watched Queen, and really enjoyed it.

Watched Rockstar recently. Good film. Ranbir put in another great performance. The soundtrack's amazing, one of the best in recent times. Kun Fayakun has to be one of the best songs I've ever heard.
Wake Up Sid, Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani, Rocket Singh, Raajneeti, Rockstar, Barfi, YJHD...that's impressive.

Goliyon Ki Raasleela: Ram-Leela
Ok...What was that!! A bad mix of SLB previous films with the touch of Romeo and Juliet story! If the makers intended to show it as an intense love story then I'm afraid that I didn't see that. The film was a complete mess! Didn't feel anything for anyone not even the talked about "chemistry". The only thing I liked is the colors and the visuals of some scenes along with Deepika's look. Real acting...I didn't see it either. The film was all over the place that's all I can say at the end.

Didn't realise this thread was still around Ugly - first up, this is from a director whose works I have hated. However, I am now used to his style of film making, where the primary characters are more dark than white. This is another film on that line, so no surprises there. The screenplay is interesting in that gives away the suspense early on, while continuing to through in spoilers during the rest of the film. The suspense should have been much tighter coming from someone like him. Anyway, the only reason I am writing this is because I felt that after long time a film has been named so aptly. The entire proceedings of the film, and its lead characters are so ugly, that Ugly was the only thing this could be called.

Baby - 9/10 Watched it yesterday. It's a very good and gripping spy thriller. Few films manage to hold your interest over 3 hours, this is one of those. One of the best Hindi films in recent years but seems like it didn't get the level of acclaim it deserves. Its solutions to the terrorism issues are perhaps simplistic and unrealistic but it's a movie afterall.
Some, minor, negatives: Akshay underplays his lines a bit too much at some points and some of the dialogues in English seem more like what one rights in an essay rather than say in a conversation. Maybe because Akshay shoots his films quicky, they didn't have time to perfect the dialogue delivery.

Ugly - 9.5/10
One of the best hindi films I have ever seen. I cannot believe I am rating an Anurag Kashyap movie so high, but if these are the kind of movies he wants to make, way more power to him. Spellbinding.

Haider. Very good movie. I love Vishal's vision when it comes to adapting Shakespeare's work. Though, for me I found Shahid to be the worst Hamlet's acting I've ever watched and I watched many great ones. He didn't pass the test despite good writing, music and all. I still see his lack of conviction. Silly eye contents as well.

Dil Dhadakne Do Nothing new even for Indian films standard. The climax was silly as well. But the one who did the mother role is so natural and the best in the movie. Exactly two scenes that I felt something otherwise I didn't feel anything for anyone. I find too much talking & comments about depth from this cast interviews & the "genius" director when I see none. The film just lacks the feel. And Farhan is a non actor.

Salaam Bombay Such a fine movie yet depressing. The lead boy is so gorgeous and so talented, I teared in so many scenes. The music is breathtaking. It is terrible how many of these talented young kids had no chance after that and came back to live in slums! Talk about luck.

Dil Dhadakne Do - 3/10 I thought I'd find it a decent watch at least but watched the first 30-40 minutes and they were mostly boring so quit there. The director's ZNMD and even Luck By Chance were much better.

Anyone bothered watching Phantom ? Looks like its going to sink without a trace
Saif is really going out of favor with the audiences, not that he was ever an A-lister to begin with. Last two "solo" hits he had were Cocktail and Love Aaj Kal - and its hard to give him full credit for these movies as they both had Deepika as his co-star who was starting to get a steady foothold in the industry by then.

^ I'm undecided on watching it, the trailer wasn't that appealing. But it's taken a decent opening (8.46cr) which is slightly more than similar films like Baby & Drishyam.
Apart from Cocktail (which was in the rom-com genre like his last major hit love aaj kal), Saif's made bad choices in recent years. A few of his films (agent vinod, humshakals, race 2) took decent openings but had bad content. He's not a super star but can give a hit with the right film.

I was interested in watching this due to Kabir Khan - I have liked each of his films so far. However, I haven't got around due to work. I feel at worst this may be a 'not bad' film.

Raanjhnaa One Heck of a movie -- Rating 8.5/10
Awesome is a small word. But this movie has everything Love Story, Drama, Revenge, Politics, Humor, Dialogues, Music, Songs, Direction and Performance with Apt Climax. Dhanush nailed this one with one heck of performance and Anand Rai was superb in direction. Good to know the rumours of SRK going to work with Anand L Rai. Movie is a must watch for someone belonging to UP ... although it will appeal to all but with some local flavour in dialogues this is must watch for Delhi-UP Belt. Sonam was ok for a change although a better actress would have been better. A R Rehman was in his elements in this one.

I loved "Raanjhnaa" and that is the best movie Anand L Rai has directed so far IMO because it has so many layers and depth in the movie. It's better than both "Tanu Weds Manu" and it's sequel because unlike TWM and TWMR, "Raanjhnaa" has a better second half than the first half. It starts as a normal rom-com but just before the interval it changes it's route and the post interval portions just take it to a higher level. I read some people didn't like the climax as it was offbeat and unconventional but for me the climax was ABSOLUTELY PERFECT. Dhanush was simply great and I can't imagine anyone else in that role as if he was born for that. I would love it if the rumor "SRK playing a dwarf in Anand L Rai's next" is true. 100% agreed Raanjhanaa was better than both TWM and TWMR. Dhanush played the character to perfection. Latest rumour mill says the name of Anand L Rai's next starring SRK is "Katrina Meri Jaan". I don't think its dwarf story that was offered to Salman and he rejected it this one is a different one.

Bajrangi Bhaijaan - 9/10
One of Salman Khan's best ever movies. That kid is one of the cutest kids we have had in hindi cinema ever. Emotional, sweet, funny and engaging. Nawazuddin Siddiqui was excellent, this is probably only the second or maybe even the first movie of his that I have seen. He is very good. Can't wait for Raees.
