Hollywood loves films about Hollywood. Same thing with Birdman/The Artist. They are self-absorbed and holier than thou fascists.
This is one of the reasons why I don't take the Oscars seriously anymore.
O God, Birdman. I have seen that one when it was nominated for Oscars and it all went straight over my head. And the ending, can't make anything of it. Need tuitions to understand such films.

I hate to say this, but Hacksaw Ridge was an incredible movie. One of, if not the best of 2016. If you aren't moved by the end, you are made of stone. I strongly dislike Mel Gibson as a human, but damn that man is a brilliant filmmaker

Arrival - 9/10
Absolutely riveting. Has Kubrick's 2001 feel to it. Decent performances, an unexpected storyline and not one dull moment. Loved it.

Sully - 8/10
Clint Eastwood just keeps getting better and better. I am a huge Tom Hanks fan, both on and off screen actually, so this was like a double treat. And having followed this story live as it happened, that made it even better. Very well done movie and they got almost everything right in the end. It is just so sad, though, when someone does something so brave and has to put up with so much bull behind the scenes. Nice, crisp depiction and never drags. It had me wondering in the end as to how short this movie really was. Maybe I was too engrossed in it to realize, but it seemed more like a real short HBO special than a full blown movie.

Guardians of the Galaxy 2 was a fu*king blast. Pretty much on par with the first film imo. May God have mercy on the bitter souls of those who don't enjoy it.

Really?? everyone who doesn't enjoy it is a bitter soul??? Grow up please, people have diff likings (and i'm not one of those who didn't like it- as haven't seen it yet, but I loved the first one, but my mum couldn't even finish watching it- and she even likes most marvel superhero movies)

Guardians of the galaxy 2- 7.5/10 Very entertaining and amazing visuals but not mucg else to say really...edit wait.. baby Groot is tooooo cute.
Wonder woman. 9.5/10 Easily the best superhero movie of the last 9 years (since TDK) In many ways its a very safe movie as theres nothing weird about it or they didnt try to do something diff like Batman v superman or man of steel (new take on superman). Of course thats partly as this is the first live action movie so they dont have to worry about copying previous ones. But even if there was nothing really risky, it was all just done so damn well that i had so many emotions running through me. My only real criticism is there was a bit too much slowmo action. Gal Gadot by the way was just perfect. I love that while the movie has humour .the humour does not at all ruin any tension. Its perfect mix in many ways of recent superhero movies. Not too dark not too light.
Bring on the Justice League..i think dceu has finally figured out how to please both fans and general audience. Im also so psyched about Aquaman...something i mever thought i would say.

The Big Sick. Very moving and very funny. Based on Kumail Nanjiani and his wife's real life story. I don't know how to rate films, I liked it well enough to see it 3 times. Never thought I'd see the day that people would laugh at a 9/11 joke but packed theaters did, while watching this film.

12 ANGRY MEN (1957)
Saw this one recently, it was an awesome movie. A Classic.
There is an Indian version of this story as well EK RUKA HUA FAISLA (1986) [English: A Pending Decision] a few years ago. As we don't have a jury system in India, people disregard this movie. But I enjoyed it. I think the story was very well adapted to Indian mindset.

Aquaman was decent - 7/10
One of the better DC/WB movies. The underwater scenes were spectacular

Bohemian Rhapsody - love it, love it, love it! Yeah it was an amazing movie! just saw it last week. Brilliant acting too. I saw Aquaman as well last week, really enjoyed it, story is nothing special but the visuals are just jaw droppingly beautiful. Worth it just for that. Might have rescued the DCEU after Justice League.

What were your thoughts on Justice League though?

haha well I still love Marvel too so not really into a vs thing.
I didn't really care for Justice League too much, it was entertainingish but it definitely felt like it was heavily interfered and edited with by the studio. I feel like there was a much better movie in there. I only saw it once in theatres, saw in on the plane a second time and I think I enjoyed it a bit more as first around I was just disappointed due to expectations. There were some cool scenes though like the one where Superman fighting against the others. And it was a pretty good intro to Flash, Cyborg and Aquaman I thought. I liked the actors. And how they all worked with each other. The story was so crap though and the villain as well.
I'm kinda over superheroes in general though. Marvel or DC. I did see infinity war and thor ragnorak (which was awesome). But didn't even see Black Panther until I saw it on the plane- though I did enjoy it quite a bit. And haven't seen Spiderman still or Ant Man and the Wasp

Barring a few like Thor Ragnarok, Infinity War, Logan and Aquaman, the other movies are getting very very generic. Spiderman, AntMan-2, Black Panther were extremely average, Especially Black Panther - was such a snooze fest if you take out the rich Wakandan backdrop. I did not get what the hype about the villain was, his performance was mediocre. Only looking forward to Avengers 4 this year, because there is just too much invested in there. Captain Marvel looks like another generic flick Mission Impossible Fallout beat all of these movies in the action department IMO

Captain Marvel looks like another generic flick Mission Impossible Fallout beat all of these movies in the action department IMO Yeah I agree about Black Panther though I did enjoy it when I saw it later but that's mainly cause of the whole african setup (and I happened to be on the plane to Zambia when I saw it lol so was the perfect mood set up). It was very generic though and the villain sucked. I'm glad I didn't see it in theatres. I'm not that excited about captain marvel either, not sure whether I will see it. But all these movies seem to be doing very well so I guess we might be in the minority. Even infinity war tbh I was very underwhelmed with that ending, I feel they played it too safe cause they killed people who you know for sure aren't gonna stay dead. Though I did overall really like that movie, and the way they developed Thanos was particularly great, finally another villian done well after Loki. And I'm glad they finally got Thor to shine! I haven't see Mission Impossible Fallout actually, I meant to watch that, but somehow didn't get around to it.

Anyone watched Mowgli on Netflix? I have heard great things about it, but still havent gotten to it Its nice. But right on the heals of Jon Favreau's Jungle Book, felt very very similar and jaded me. The voice acting is pretty spectacular though, especially Bale and Cumberbatch. I was hoping they'd get some names right finally, but alas. Akeyla stays Akeela here too. Alas. A much darker version of the tale, beware.

What a film, for me it's the most under rated one of the year. Highly recommended!

It will likely be a good conclusion to the original Avengers story. I'm getting burned out on superhero movies in general (BP and Ant Man were boring, Aquaman too apart from the unique setting. Captain Marvel looks boring as hell) for the most part but the Russo's MCU movies have all been amazing and more unique than the rest.
